Looks great Rich! Did you have a nice spectator crowd? This was a charity event, right? Were you able to raise a lot of $$$ for the cause?

The Active 20-30 was able to double there expenses on this event. I'll let them talk about $$$ if they wish (some of them are on this board, or will be soon)

Last years fundrasier event (no rock racing) broke even.

They were very, very thrilled with the amount of money raised, and have asked to make a series of these events to help other 20-30 clubs in northern Cal. and Nevada.

Awesome! No $$ figure necessary, just happy to see it worked out well for them :)

We had a good time even though we broke the front end...

We also lost a digital camera. Not sure what type it was cause it was my spotter's. We were parked by the bathrooms in the pits. Dan grabbed his first aid kit and went to help when he heard someone running to the bathrooms and yelling about getting gas burns. When Dan returned to his white step-side chevy he saw someone walking away from his open passenger door. He didn't think much about it until he couldn't find his camera when he got home. It's too bad people have to be like that. Now Dan doesn't have a digi camera anymore because he helped someone out with his first aid kit!!

Sorry to hear about that, it looks like me may have to close the pit area to the spectators if this kind of crap happens, which would be a real shame. By the way, Dan e-mailed me about the camera, I guess its an Olympus digi, so if someone you know has a new camera, and did not have it before the event, call me. there is a $100.00 reward for it's returned. CalROCS is putting this money up.

This kind of crap pi$$'$ me off.

At most of our mud-racing events, we sell pit passes. That still allows spectator access, but keeps it to a much more controllable volume of people. Might be an idea for you. At one event, the arena wasn't set up very well for folks walking back & forth between the pits & the spectator area DURING the event. So, what we did there was have a "Pit Party" before the race for an hour. That worked out REALLY well. All of the vehicles had to be shut off by 5:00, and the pit party started at 5:30 (that way, exhaust would be cool and you wouldn't have to worry about little kids touching hot stuff). They got an hour to mingle with the drivers, take pics of their kids by the race vehicles, get autographs, etc. We didn't charge for this, included it in admission price. That too won't work for EVERY event, but it was great for that one.

On the other hand, my car was parked in the pits not near a lot of people and was unlocked most of the day with my purse in it. Nothing was disturbed. It's unfortunate but anywhere where you have that many people you will have some things happen. I hope your friend gets his camera. back

Thanks for the reward offer Rich!! Hopefully it will give some incentive for the return of the camera.

Thank your friend dan for the help. That was my friend Josh Kumbi (roksamy on the board). With the pit thing, i really liked how this was setup.

Josh was helping the staff with a chevy that has the gastank split open (thats why he was covered in gas). He came running up to me screaming that he was covered in gas and needed to get to the bathrooms. My rig was parked in the pits so i was able to drive him up to the bathrooms (where a paramedic happened to be at). I'm really glad I was able to have my rig down there.
