: 2003 Dodge better fuel mileage?

So new fuel filter put in and mileage went up.

We averaged 15 miles/gallon towing the buggy (+450lbs+- water in tires) plus all the spares etc. to Oroville, CA. 4 of us in the truck plus our gear, I'd guess we'd be pulling around 6000lbs over stock weight. We were going 70mph+ most of the time.

I'm running a Bullydog TripleGT, Airraid cold air intake, and thats it for power stuff.

Its a 2003 Quad Cab, the HO 24 valve, and it has the newer transmission (48re I think)

What else can I do to get even better mileage towing?

Fuck that, :p

The one shitty part about comp wheeling is the need to get there and get back home in decent time.

To be truthful, I'd be damn happy with 15 avg towing that fast. I doubt you'll find much more.

Advance your timing a little bit. I run my TST at like 9* advance and it helps quite a bit.

water and propane

Water or propane injection setup? I thought that was just to lower EGTs?

Use imperial gallons.

Thats very respectful fuel milage when towing. Somebody on a forum blowing smoke up your ass telling you they get much more than that or something?

As long as you build it for mpg and not power you can have a very reliable setup and get really good mileage. Do a little reserch on it, thairs a lot of info on the scientific stuff. Im no expert and Id look stupid tryin to explaine it.

That's pretty good for that slushbox you've got. I'd be happy with that at 70 MPH to boot.

I'd slow down, remember, the engine is just a big ass air pump. So make sure you've got great flow in and out.

I'd also look into a good 4" turbo back exhaust. I bet that helped out the 03 CTD by at least 1 mpg empty. Good converter and valvebody to get the power to the ground and your there.

Is BC downhill both ways?

Is BC downhill both ways?

Sure is.

It actually did real good compared to my old tow rigs. Just looking to squeeze some more out of it. Driving to AZ for the next werock event in a couple weeks.

:D

Good luck at the event. Wave as you drive by SLC (use a few more fingers than you're thinking)
