Dan-H 10-14-2002, 10:40 AM this is semi chit chat but since alot of us drive these 3 roads in marginallly legal rigs...
cliff notes:
Special Folsom PD task force for traffic enforcement.

- overall compliance with traffic regulations
- enforcing commercial-vehicle regulations
special focus on specific roads:
"The areas of strict enforcement will rotate throughout the city and will be announced as they change.

"When drivers violate the law in those areas, they have an excellent chance of getting a citation," Police Capt. Ernie Stewart said in a news release. "We will not be giving warnings."
Officers will watch for speed violations along with equipment, administrative and safety violations such as improper plates, modified exhaust systems, excessive noise and seat-belt violations

4x4Grrl 10-14-2002, 11:38 AM Shiat, just because they have the signs posted doesn't mean they haven't been doing it. They have been known for being strict and I mean strict since I can remember. One of the reasons I hated driving down there. They use speed traps and get away with it, they will pull you over for suspicion of a crack in your taillight, etc.

That ain't no fawkin joke either!! I got pulled over about 3 months ago in my 97 GMC and that fawkin jerk went over every square inch of my bone stock rig. Even went as far as to ask why the air box cover was off the truck. (K&N filter and the box just makes it a little louder) what a dick. No ticket cause everything was legal but I did spend 45 minutes listening to that guy.
Black Dog 10-14-2002, 12:00 PM Well, if you are transporting crack in your taillite, you deserve to get pulled over!:flipoff2:
diefree 10-14-2002, 12:28 PM uh oh,these guys are taking lessons from Roseville PD.
beerisgood 10-14-2002, 01:12 PM proving once again why California suxs, I feel sorry for everybody out there(which is by my conservative estimate about 90% of the people on here) who has to put up with this garbage. I guess I'm lucky, in the county where I live we have a grand total of 2 cops and one crusier and the accasional smokie who arent strict about minor stuff like an overly loud airbox.
Dan-H 10-14-2002, 01:40 PM doesn't it suck having to obey laws:flipoff2:
I didn't expect this to be a bash on Folsom PD, or bash on cops in general, just a heads up that these three heavily traveled stretches will likely to be under a microscope for a while.
I would expect the main focus will be speeding and if you drive these roads frequently, you know *everyone* does 20 to 30 MPH over the posted limit.
Since it is pretty hard to get through Folsom without driving through at least one of these "areas" just be aware of it, and if your rig is clearly over the line equipment wise, don't be surprised if you get stopped, especially if you are speeding.
I will guess they are watching the masses of construction trucks and trades trucks heading into empire ranch and out to ElDo county more closely than a 4x4s ( for equipment violations) , but ya never know...
I do know I'll be watching my speed and might even wash the mud off my jeep ;)

Oh please. California is a HUGE state and goes from places like Folsom to places like Orland/Chico where I live. I have no rear fenders, not legal headlights, my entire 39.5's stick out from the body, sometimes no tail lights and sometimes no windshield, and I have NEVER been stopped. I've even had city cops, county cops and CHP look, wave and even give me a thumbs up. So it's not California just certain areas like, I am sure, every state has.
Keith 10-14-2002, 02:10 PM I do not drive 20-30mph over the speed limit on surface streets. Dont dare do it in Orangevale, with all the sneaky CHP hiding around the corners. Got my only mud gaurd tickect around about a block from my house.
IMHO, waaaaaaay too many liberal folks from the Bay have moved up here, and have turned the whole area into another pile of crap.:flipoff: Brought their values here too. Sac county voted for Gore, what does that tell you. Do you think that the influence of folks around here has anything to do with the stricter inforcement?

HA try 3 over the speed limit, in a bone stock 97 GMC 4x4. Pulled over why?? Because there was a scratch on my tail lite that "Could have been" a crack. At which time he looked the truck over from top to bottom. Even going as far as saying that I needed new tires because mine where "dangerously low on tread", until I produced the receipt for said tires that were purchased 3 months prior....hhhhmmmmm A little excessive?? hell yeah. Damn had I been in the cruiser he probably would have impounded it.
Stonefly 10-14-2002, 02:39 PM Folsom-Auburn Road from Inwood Road to Oak Avenue
This should read as:
Folsom-Auburn Road Hwy50 to the Dam road
For the last week. I've seen the same motorcycle cop handing out tickets every morning (07:30) between the Dam road and Oak Ave. First you see the cheezy sign, then the cop (if your lucky that is).
Watch your speed.
Keith 10-14-2002, 02:39 PM Hey Glo, was that in G.V. or down here in the valley?
