: tire fit 96 dodge 1/2 ton
gddupuis 10-14-2002, 10:40 AM will i fit 35's under my 96 1/2 ton which has a 3 inch superlift. when it was stock, i had 33x12.50 tsl's on 15x10 wheels with 3.75" bs and no rubbing or troubles. now i want to go to 35x12.50 pro comp mt on 15x8 chrome mods with 3.75" bs since i have the 3 inch lift. ???? will they fit, rub, not even close?
thanks
resqdvr90 10-14-2002, 03:30 PM they will fit with some rubbing during compression. i have same set up with body lift and no problems
mytzlflick 10-14-2002, 05:00 PM anyone know what it would take to put my 44's under a 3/4 ton deisel version?
I know its crazy but I have the tires and thats my only running truck.
resqdvr90 10-17-2002, 02:29 PM try whiplash inc. couldnt find their website but phone number is 1-866-whp-lash. they are in the fresno ca area. they make a 10" lift. there are some newer dodges in the area they built that are running 44s.
Total Distorsion 10-17-2002, 06:36 PM Hey guys I'm going to let you know a little secret. Promise not to tell! Rubicon Express,in the next few months are going to start doing fullsize trucks! For the Dodge line they want to do a 4'' and a 6''. Thats all I know.
RufusTheRam 10-18-2002, 07:24 PM stay away from whiplash!! it's junk, show truck quality only. throw a body lift on your truck, 35's easy. you could possibly clear 44's for street use with a 4.5 skyjacker, 3 inch spacer, and 3 inch body. may have to trim some fender corners a bit, and wheel choice would be critical.
mytzlflick 10-19-2002, 06:20 PM actually I'd like to fit them with the absolute minumum amount of lift possible. I figured move the axle forwards 2 inches, massive fender modifications, maybe tub the cab a bit? seems to be lots of space up there.
yeah I looked at wiplash and it looked much more showy than anything. plus with a 1000lb engine up front I am very concerned about my center of gravity.
three inch body lift is a given as most lift kits are very very pricy for the damm thing.
GRMhick 10-19-2002, 08:25 PM does anyone have any pics of cut fender on 94+ rams? It looks to me that there is only about 1" between the door and the fender opening. I looked into bushwacker, but all i got from them was that there wasent enough room to cut the fenders, so i am SOL from them.
gddupuis 10-24-2002, 03:05 PM thanks for the input. for others asking the same question, here it is...
3 inch suspension lift (add a leaf in the rear, front coil spring replacement)
35 inch procomp mt on 15x8 chrome mods (3.75inch backspacing)
3.55 gears... so, so on the highway for running with o.d. mostly turn it off unless lots of flat open road.
no tire rub when full turning lock to lock on flat ground.
mytzlflick 10-25-2002, 04:54 AM Damm I wish I had what it takes to hack into my shiny daily-driven truck and slap on the 44's. oh well maybe when its paid off.
can you fender trim the door itself???????
GRMhick 10-25-2002, 08:19 AM let us know if the tires hit off road. I have some new 35" goodyear muds i want to put on my 96 ram with a 3" rancho lift (coil spacer, and new suspension arms).
Garrett
Pavemen 10-25-2002, 09:11 AM you can run 35x12.50 on 8" wide wheels with a 3" lift on a 1500 and get little to no rubbing, even offroad, if you use wheels with about 4.5" of backspacing.
gddupuis 11-02-2002, 07:35 PM i have been running my 35's off road and very little rub. only when i have it cranked lock to lock otherwise i have stuffed those tires up in the wheel wells pretty good.
quick question...any ideas or suggestions on an easy gear swap for my dodge. i have the 3.55's and would like to go to 3.92 or 4.10. also like to go to lsd in the rear. dana 44 up front and chrysler 9.25 in the rear. i have heard that some of these came from the factory with 3.92 and an lsd in there. maybe some bone yard shopping for a set or should i go with something after market?
NotBaad 11-02-2002, 09:41 PM If you do a lot of wheeling go with 4.56's. If you see more pavement, stick to 4.10's. But don't waste time on 3.92's. You won't see a huge difference from the 3.55's. 4.56's should put you around 2500rpm when in overdrive if i remember right when running 35's.
Just go with an aftermarket limited slip. Too much of a pain digging through bone yards trying to find a factory limited slip then get it out and put it in your rig.
