On the subject of engine swaps, whatīs the best way to (attempt to) fire up the motor for the first time after "concluding" the swap and not fry sumpinī?? Iīm doing a 1.6 16 valve Swift swap into my Zuk and the wiring has been a fawking nightmare, even with the FSM schematics from both vehicles. The worst part is when you look at a connector that the schematic says has an orange wire, for example, except that thereīs no orange wire to be found. I found three or four instances of this. Combining these doubts with my natural ineptness with things electrical, Iīm worried that I might cook something...
So whatīs the best way to initiate the start-up procedure?? I was thinking of removing all fuses from the fuse block and disconnecting the ECM. Then, putting power to one circuit at a time, check for "correctness" relative to the schematic and with a multimeter, as appropriate. I would start with the simple circuits, like the taillights, thereby reducing potential errors on the important ECM circuits through the process of elimination. After verifying these connections, I would then do one more pre-power check on the ECM connections and then cross my fingers.
Any input would be most welcome to help me avoid an ECM melt-down.
TIA,
