There is/was a portion of LBI state park you could drive on. I went a couple times as a kid for fishing purposes. I remember pops having to get a permit and make sure nothing leaked on the truck. I dont know how they would feel if your sole purpose was to drive around on the beach though. Definitely no dune running from what I remember. Way off limits to hit the dunes. This could all be horse shit by now as it was probably 15 years ago last time I was out that way.

Are you looking to fish? Not much for high speed dune running but if your looking for some casual beach driving, I'd guess your in business. When I said LBI state park, I meant Island Beach state park...its been a while since I've been up to NJ.

Island Beach State Park which goes from the south end of Seaside Park to Barnegat Inlet. I think it's 12 miles of shoreline? It's the longest undeveloped shoreline in the state, one of the best beaches in the state IMO and I spend a lot of time in the sand. A guy I surf fish with has it, for the year it's pretty pricey, $200, but there is a 3 day pass that is much cheaper.

New Jersey Beach Buggy is the group that pushes to keep this legal and I know a former president thats a great guy, as mentioned you can get a weekend pass, but I am not sure if that allows you to "wheel" as we would describe it or just access for fishing?

Absolutely no dune running. You will be inspected on the way in, no leaks, shovel, and wood or something as a traction aid. Go near the dunes and the cops will be all over you. Mostly the beach pass is for surf fishing and sun bathing. Wanna go fast? go west young man.

they will break your balls if you dont have a pole in the water. It use to be low key until everyone got SUVs, now they bust chops.

its a killer beach and you would not you think you were in NJ.

You can drive on the beach on LBI. I used to go out there fishing all the time. Not hauling ass doing 50mph, but just drive. If you went tearing through there at any faster than 10mph the cops would be out there before you know it.
