(This is posted in the Jeep section, so yes this is a double post, but I realize all 5.0L gurus don't frequent the Jeep board so please help.)
I have e-mailed this to Chris W., but if any of you can help me decipher what these are, then pleas help. And let me suggest that you don't use a Mark VII wiring harness, it is confusing and don't know if it is going to work after all the shit I cut out of it. There are sensors for everything, anti-skid, air bag suspension, low level this, low level that, etc. I have been wrestling with the wiring for the past few days and it is a mess. The Mark VII is not self contained and is very intense. I have cut it down to what I think is necessary and will allow the computer to work with no problems, I hope. Well, it is time to splice into the Jeep harness and I have a few questions for you about Chris Watermans site. It is an 87 Mark VII speed density engine that is going into my 85 CJ7 that had a straight six.

My questions are from his site, half way down the page here: Chris W. site (http://www.bc4x4.com/chrisw/projects/powertrain/wiring.asp)

Here it goes:

1. C4 Coolant temp sender goes to: R/W wire on black conncetor (cct39). First, what is cct? Second, I know the coolant temp sender wire on the Jeep, but the coolant temp sender from the 5.0L is two wires and goes directly to the computer through one connector, so where is the 5.0L wire?

2. When you say D5 battery power from ign switch goes to R/LG wire on grey connector (cct16), what wire is the R/LG? and what is the cct16? also, is the battery power from ign switch the red wire that goes to one side of the starter solenoid and also the alternator of the old system?

3. You say E4 battery power to lamps goes to black/orange fusible link to battery power. Why are you connecting anything to do with lamps? I thought that was all on the other side of the bulkhead.

4. G5 crank signal from ign sw to R/LB wire on grey connector cct32. What is the R/LB wire? cct32? What is the crank signal wire from the ignition switch? would that be the one that goes to the ignition module, coil and starter solenoid little prong?

5. I don't know what to do with the fuel pump and relay. I have the connectors from the fuel pump to the fuel relay and then to a fuel safety switch. There are four wires that I don't know what to do with. One from the pump, two or three from the relay and then one from the safety. I don't think I have a fuel pump power wire since it is an 85 CJ7.

If anybody has any tips or anything to add that will help me with this, please do.

Thanks a lot,

Jason

I know it's long, but I need a little assistance.

OK, I spent a few more hours this morning and have figured some of it out. I realize what the cct was, I had been using them, but didn't realize because some don't match up with the Mark VII.

Now, ONLY TWO QUESTIONS RIGHT NOW.

1. How do I wire up the fuel pump, fuel pump relay and safety switch? There are four wires that I don't know what to do with. One from the pump(two come out of the pump, one goes to the relay), two from the relay(four come out, one to the pump and one to the safety switch) and then one from the safety switch (two come out, but came from the relay).

2. start/run position power from the ignition switch that gets wired to HEGO power, alternator enable wire and to the TFI module. On the 89 Wrangler it is a Yellow wire that previously went to the ignition module and spliced to a wire with a resistor in it to the alternator, and then spliced again to the ignition coil with a resistor. On my 85 CJ7 I have two seperate wires that do this wiring, so does it matter which one I choose? I have a light blue that goes to the starter solenoid and then also the ignition module, then I have a brown wire that is wired to the alternator through a resistor. Does it matter?
