I have never been into quads or dirt bikes but im selling my jeep and getting a 4x4 quad. I see a bunch i like but i dont know what is considered alot of hours. Like how often do these things need to be rebuilt? like is 80 hours considered alot? thats like 10 days of riding all day so i dont think it is....

my polaris scrambler 4x4 is a 2 stroke 400

The amount of hours isn't as important as the kind of abuse they may have suffered. If you are set on going used check them out well. Bushings, ball joints, U-joints, cv boots... the list goes on and on. Used atv's can end up costing you a sh!t ton of money. I work at a polaris shop and have seen people get sucked dry by used machines. The motors in newer 4 strokes hold up pretty good if they are well maintained.

Agreed, If it has very agressive oversized tires, Plan on a rear end rebuild in the hear furure, If it has a snorkle on it, Chances are its been beaten in the mud. It wont take long to look one over and get an idea of how its been maintaned.

Oh, and 80 hours is just getting broke in. the new Polaris atvs get their initial oil change at 25 hours, then every 50 after that.
