Some backstory (http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=835925&highlight=serevince)

[Poor me-sob story]
So I'm stationed overseas and last August my wife drove me to the Airport to drop me off for a 120 day deployment (I love the Air Force! No 15-18 month like the poor Army bastids) and on the way back, KABOOM! (See link for pics). So my wife drops the rig off at the local shop. They tear it down, to find that I need a new long block and (at least) 1 new head. I looked into all sorts of options, but it came down to I would have to pay freight and import fees on getting everything shipped over, install (in Euro) and then have absoloutly no recourse if anything goes wrong after I leave here in a few months.[Okay, I'm done belly aching :flipoff2: ]

So based on my budget and research, I need to put a 3.4 back in my Taco:shaking:

What should I pay for a used motor? I want to find as complete as possible, possibly a wrecked donor?

Are all the 5vz-fe from all the different vehicles 100% interchangable?

What should I expect to pay for labor? Currently the truck sits with nothing in the engine bay:barf:

Ballpark for my total budget?

I'm also looking for a reputable shop in the PNW area. I can have the vehicle shipped to any major port, but I don't know where I'm going next. I have fam in the Spokane area, so I am thinkng Seattle/ PNW area? I have few guns stored with them anyway, so I have to make a road trip there no matter what:D

I'm looking to have the vehicle shipped ASAP. I am out of here in August. I want to have this out of my yard yesterday! It takes at least 30 days to make the boat trip across the pond and I'd love to have it drivable as soon after I get stateside as possible.

Thanks for the help!

All of the 3.4L were the same, the only difference being the dipstick location for the T100's. Even these can be moved though if you found a block from one. Your best bet is to find a JDM engine and just swap all your stuff onto that block. They come from over seas and have very little miles on them. I've seem them on ebay often.

You could also try to find one at a wrecking yard, out of a later year taco/4runner with low mileage. I bought one, that came out of Texas with 80K on it, I paid $1500 to have it shipped to my door. Most reputable places will have some form of warranty with it also. I think mine had a 90 day on it or something like that.

Try car-part.com, should be pretty easy to find a long block. Then once you decide where to ship the truck to it should be pretty easy for a shop to swap your intake and accesories over and get it running again.

Dude.... My dream was to a have a 1KZTE put in. Wicked torque, bulletproof and 30+mpg.

To bad it would cost me almost $20k to get done right!:barf:
Any other Toy deisel would require way more work, new tranny etc.

Also looked at 1 UZFE swap. Light Lexus V8 more HP with the same mpg as the 3.4 V6. But the only company advertising doing this swap went out of business. I've never heard of any completed examples on a Taco.
