Fordyce Trail Cleanup Nov. 2, 8AM

Hosted by the newly formed Four Dice 4 Wheel Drive Club

UPDATE:
After running the trail last week we have changed our plan of attack. The trail looks good past Winch Hill 1, but needs work west of there, so we are going to concentrate our efforts to the west end of the trail.

Check in will be on Eagle Lakes Rd. near Indian Springs Campground where the pavement hits the dirt. Eagle Lakes Rd. is approx. 1 mile west of Cisco Grove on Hwy. 80. That evening there will be a raffle/party near Indian Springs. Most cleaning supplies have already been donated. Get one more run in before winter hits, and help us out. We will be on CB Channel 40.

Sounds good. Sometimes I think we forget about this gem of a trail with all that's going on with the Rubicon. I'm down.

I was thinking about a run in the next week or two. I'm in. . . . and I'll be coming in from the Hwy 80- side.

BTW, all you SF people: where do you guys live?!?! We should meet up and have some beers, talk truck, etc. I just bought a palce in the Sunset.

Rck Ratz posted a message about the Fordyce Cleanup on Nov 2 weekend, sponsored by Four Dice 4 Wheel Drive Club. Our original intention was to attack from both ends, Indian Springs and Meadow Lake. On Oct 18th, we did a pre run to list exactly what needed to be done. As it appears, the bulk of the maintenance is from the Indian Springs side, ending at the 1st Winch Hill. Beyond that, everything is in excellant shape. We are now trying to get the word out that we would like to go in from the beginning at Indian Springs, go as far as Winch Hill #1, and return. From the Springs there are many fire pits that need to be emptied and cleaned, misc. litter, several signs that need to be repaired and re-anchored to the ground, and at least two sections with oil damage. We are sorry for any inconvenience this change may have caused. But in the interest of doing the best job possible, we feel the change is necessary. Please see original note and email your signup so we can determine how many volunteers we will have.
As a bonus, we have gotten some gifts/prizes that will be given away at a free raffle.
Thanks for your time, MudRatz

I would love to come, but it will depend on how busy I am with school that particular week. If I do make it, what should I bring (besides a sweatshirt ;))? and out of curiosity, what's in the raffle so far?

We aren't ready to disclose what's included in the raffle yet, but trust me when I say that it is coming along quite nicely ;)

We will have a group doing a sweep of the trail back out. When everyone gets out is when we plan to do the raffle. The plan is before dark which is early now so.......

We can't be too specific because it will be difficult to meet that so lets say before dark.

Yup pretty much. We are going to setup actually right on Eagle Lakes Road. (Where you make the turn to hit the dirt) Where you camp on Sat. night is up to you. I think we are going to stay at the base of Driveline hill. Lot's of camping spots around that area.

Fires are not allowed:( We will be camping out in the open on Friday and Saturday nights out there. Went a week ago and it wasn't too bad. We cancelled the Meadow Lake end of the trail due to the fact that there wasn't a whole lot of work needed on that end of the trail, as well as the fact that with darkness setting in at 4, we didn't want to do this at night.

We have 2 women in our group as well, and they both hate the cold......
