I was wondering if anyone has purchased these, how much they are, complete coils and shocks, and what your impressions of them are.

Are you talking about the Bilsteins? The only real difference are they are valved for rockcrawling out of the box. They also use some less expensive components that are fine for crawling but would be questionable for racing. At least that is what the rep told me. It was a way to bring the cost down without effecting performance.

The Rockkrawler shox only come in screw top and 2" bodies,I think. You can get springs alot easier and cheaper for 2" bodies, most all racecar stuff is for 2" bodies.

I never post anything menacing or negative! I always try to help others out when they have a question that I know the answer to.

If I post a question, I think I deserve the same respect.

I do not, and I will not crack on anyones ride unless they ask for my honest opinion, and I don't like it. I have never started an argument, but all of you seem to push me into one. Why is that?

I think I am a really nice person, (if you give me a chance) and I am always willing to help anyone out. WTF?

Think about it, a prerunner or race truck is going to be ALOT harder on shocks than a crawler. The crawler cycles its shocks suoer-slow compared to a race truck going balls out across the desert. Faster cycling => more friction => more heat. Id bet thats where alot of the savings come in. The crawler shocks just simply dont have to deal with the heat. Also, I would bet that a race truck doing 50mph over rough terrain for 30 minutes cycles its shocks more than an entire rubicon trip.

I dont know shit about shocks, but this makes sense to me

I DISAGREE here. Have you ever taken apart a shock? WTF, is Bilstein gonna save a but load of doe by skimpin on material selection on a 0$.01 piston wear band. Are they gonna be making the pistons out of steel???? I doubt it. It just doesn't make sense. The point I am tryin to make here is that it wouldn't be in the best interest for any shock manufacture to skim on anything. The only thing that MIGHT be different is the valving, but I kind of doubt it.

OK while writing this reply I went to do a little reseach on the shocks and GUESS WHAT...???? The NEW rockcrawler shock is nothing but a 9100 series off road shock that has been made for awhile now. Looks like Bilstein has done a decent job advertising a product thaey allready make to a new demographic.

I tried to show that I have some maturity, unlike you. I have tried to reason with you, but you will not have it. You are nothing but an "internet cool guy". I would be willing to bet that you have no true friends in life. Who the hell would want to be friends with a fuck head like you? You got in good good with the people on this site and now you think that you are better than me for some reason. I guess that is because you don't like my truck. You surely don't know me, and you have never given me a chance. In fact, I don't think that I have been this mad at a person in a long time.

I took part in everything that was done to my truck, and I am proud of my achievements. I have paid alot of money for my truck, and the things that are involved in it, but I have gallons of sweat, blood, and tears wrapped up in it. Yes, I had a mall cruiser that I am converting into a rock crawler. Yes, it still has some chrome, but not as much as it used to (it will all be gone in time). I will continue to work on it until it is worthy of competition. I am just getting started. I am only 21, and everything that I have, I have worked my fingers to the bone to get. Thank you for inspiring me to get it done even quicker. A full roll cage, sliders, front and rear bumper, winch, and new coilovers front and rear are in the works.

BTW, where is your truck? I would love to see it (if you even have one). I hope you compete. I would love to come out and wheel with you sometime. Maybe we will have the pleasure of competing against each other, so I can whip your ass, not only on, but off the course as well. I am not an "internet tough guy" like you, I am stating facts. I hate you, and anyone that follows you. You are the "little bitch" and I will prove it. Fuck you for making me feel unwelcome on this site. I hope you feel like a man.

The fact that you admit that you're getting pissed at me shows how much of a little bitch you are. Shaw, you don't even raise my angst level an ioda. You are no one, but a snivveling pussy looking for recognition in the wrong place. The simple solution is to take yourself and your rig to another corner of the web and rid yourself of the humiliation you'll receive here.

Show you my rig ... bwahaha. Looking at your backwards, fucked up "rig-wannabe," you don't even deserve to lay eyes on my handiwork. Besides, I don't owe you jack, little bitch. Come lick my chode and I might let you see a picture of it.

And you can stop trying to play yourself off as someone you're not any time now. Trying to label others doesn't work too well in your favor either, particularly when several people from this board have met me in person and are well aware of the caliber of my character.

Yeah, it blows when a thread gets completely off topic. My apologies go out to the thread starter, ECF, as my comments have had nothing to do with coilovers.

But, in order to keep this bbs up to snuff, the little bitches have to be weeded out from time to time. Call it flaming or whatever you want, but if the little bitches don't get put in their place, pbb will only go the route of those *other guys*. And I'll be gawd damned, if I'm gonna' roll over and allow that to happen.

Blatz? Oh hell yeah!

Don't get me wrong, I still enjoy a quality microbrew (I highly recommend Lakefront Brewery (http://www.lakefrontbrewery.com)) from time to time. But a guy just doesn't garnish the same respect walking around a campground full of wheelers with a pint glass of stout as he does with a sixer of Blatz clipped to his belt. Besides, at ~$4/twelve pack, I can better allocate my funds.

Not to get off subject but I though that the cost cuttin parts of the "rockcrawler" coilover was the crimped hoses and the cast aluminum resivor housing and baby stuff like that vs. a billet aluminum housing and hose ends. Turns out that you wouln't be savin much money relative to 4 racerunners, last time i priced a set.

like that other guy, bilstiens don't do it for me anyways. i left the coilover idea for 12 crome rs9000's like the s-10 kid

Look, some outside advice, shut your mouth and save what little pride you have left. Take you're killer built "competition" rig, put it on a trailer and go to a car show and sit there and rub it with a diaper and let people gawk at it, that suits you a little better than actually wheeling it.

Ya know I guess I just don't get it, cause I thought I wanted to know who was running the new coilovers designed for rockcrawling. I wanted to know price and driveability and all I get is a bunch of 3 year olds with the thinnest skin in the world rubbin' their pussies against eachother! So the next time a topic comes up and you really don't have any response to the stated topic why don't you just head over to the chit chat and voice your opinion there! Sheesh! As far as I can tell, the bilstein rockcrawler shocks are the standard 9100 series shocks, but with valving that works better for rockcrawling. They might skimp on the seals, the hose and some on the coil-over parts. I am just guessing though because I have not seen any detailed specs or what the price is. They might not even be available yet, we should see at Sema.

Generally speaking, the bilsteins are the most expensive coil-over shocks, followed by fox, then king and Swawaway. They are all very similar, It just comes down to brand preference, and who can provide better service and parts.
