Ok folks, This is advance notice. I am going to Wellsville Oh on Sunday October 27th, 2002. Anyone else coming.

My cousin has been bothering me to take him 4wheeling and this is how much notice we needed.

I've never been to Wellsville, but I hear it's a lot of mud... Are there any good trails that don't involve bottomless tank traps?

Somebody post up some more info for those not familiar with the place. Pondering the divorce likelyhood of wheeling agin this month.

Where is it, nearest city, hwy intersections?
Fees if any, supplies, fuel nearby?
Trailer/tow rig parking, how far from trails, is it secure?
When is the trail head hookup, time and day?

Hey Bert, where are you meeting and what time?

There's an outside chance we'll have a small group there.

Wellsville is right on Rt 7 on the Ohio river, approx. 30 mins north of I-70, maybe an hour? south of Youngstown. There is a small fee to park and access the trails.

i have been to wellsville before i was just wondering how hard of trails you would be going on a my truck is mainly stock or if i remember alot of stuff you could go around?

We will NOT DO MUD! Only if it is impassable without getting muddy.

You need at least a rear locker. You need tow hooks. You need to expect a scratch or 2 in the creek. Other than that, It has go arounds.. There are no go arounds for the creek. One way.

Where is it, Small town called Wellsville Ohio, In south Eastern Ohio, Almost in West Virgina, Amost in Pennsylvania.
If you need to sleep over, You can crash at my house It's about 1 hr farther from your home, but close to interstates that make the trip easier.



nearest city, About 45 min from Downtown Pittsburgh Pa.

hwy intersections? Ohio Rt 7 and Ohio rt 11 Check a map.

Fees if any, $8.00 entrance fee with great parking for Tow rigs and trailers.. We will tow.

supplies, That part is tough. Advance Auto parts is in Wellsville. But I dont know if they are open on Sunday's.

fuel nearby? YES.


Trailer/tow rig parking, how far from trails, is it secure? Parking is guarded by 2 guys. Tons of dirtbikers/quaders park their on weekends. Semi secure. Everyone kinda looks out for everyone else. :)


When is the trail head hookup, time and day?

Hmmm I have to call BADASSJEEPGUY.. I will post back.. Sorry. Its def. Sunday morning at Bob Evans near Pittsburgh for breakfast. :D

I'm not too proud to PULL cable! I gotta get out the atlas and see what is involved with making it over there. I was hoping it was more central in Ohio, but anything is doable.

this is a hard core run......... there is a new bolder section that we will be hittin most likely that will turn most people away.....

BAjeepguy, you ever run chicken hill? Partcularly the right side? I think i've only seen one vehicle attempt that side, and he got snagged and I think broke something when he reached that step half way up. he had to be lowered back down.

So I bet twister 1 & 2 are the big challenge now, huh? :flipoff2:

been up stews hill which is chicken coop first attempt 2 weekends ago..... rain stopped me at the ledge even with 3rd gear 5000 rpm attempts.... ill get it next time.... :D more interested in the rock section we found..... needs alot of work to make it a trail but its gonna be killer

Does it happen to be by the rock garden? I keep looking at the huge pile of rocks to the side, but don't have the nerve to even think about it with my little 35's.

I may not make it, seems the wife accepted an invite to her bosses house for a halloween for the kids party on Sunday. She said "go wheeling, I don't care" which I translate to mean get some lube and a rubber glove and enjoy your stint on the couch, indefinatly!

I gotta weigh my priorities, and the thought of being my "own best friend" kinda sux :mad: When I asked her to go she teased me with "when?". Women.....................................

Well that sucks Mike. Now I'm contemplating fixing my junk and going into debt to head up there. Is this Bob Evans easy to find? Is it on Rt. 7? I'll be coming up from I-70 if I make it.

The Bob Evans is Just off the parkway West. at the interchange for Rt 60.

If your on 70 It might be out of your way. We should be at the pay area at wellsville around 1045 or 11:00 unloading.

I hope we will be getting in the woods by 11. (keeping fingers crossed)..

you can make it! I got a Open diff TJ with 32s and I have made it through the creek 5 or more times with no problem. but like bert said.......get ready for some scratches

I am familiar with the waterfall and the creek and the above hillclimb. Are you guys hitting anything much harder than that stuff? I'm thinking about coming out.

the funny part of that climb is when the dude that went for the ride with me bailed out at the ledge.....lol guess i dont blame him......3rd gear 4500 rpm launch's :eek: that ledge was slick! maybe next time.....

Rt 11 to RT 7 go to the normal exit to go to the brickyard, sorry I dont remember the name of the exit. But I think its Wellsville.
Turn right, THIS WILL TAKE YOU UP the hill, Not into the town.
Go about 1/2 mile and there should be a small sign on your right that says something about Quad parking. At that sign turn left and go up again, THis is a small road but you can make it ok with trailers. Keep looking for the small signs there is one more turn to the left then you look for all the dirtbikes/quads/jeeps/people.
