I am getting ready to order a new aluminum radiator and was looking at the Griffins. They dont come with a tranny cooler in them. Is there any reason that I cant just run my fluid directly too the cooler that I have?
Newbie question but I have never done this!.....

main difference will be the tranny won't heat up as quickly, which can be bad - if you run it too cool for too long it will build up varnish - or at least that's what my tranny builder told me.
...but I know quite a few people that have done just what your thinking with out any problems for years.
You can use a seperate cooler just mount a fan to it or mount it in front of your radiator , so your engine fan pulls air acrossed it...

Thank alot for the NEWBIE answer:D I figured that there wouldnt be a problem but hell you never no..... If anyone else has any other opinions about this let me know otherwise I am ordering tonight. Most likely I am going to get one of the coolers that you can put you steering and tranny fluid into...... Since I have a ram give me a little more fluid.

Trust me the torque converter will build up enough heat quickly enough to prevent any varnish. Here is a trick little cooler/filter that you can mount below your radiator to the cross member, I run this for my PS Fluid...
