Hopefully will be done before the KOH qualifier so we get some shake down time.
Jacksfork 06-01-2010, 10:30 AM Hey btrflz you are still in the series for you can miss/drop a race. Sorry to hear you are not going to make wiringnatzi....but i have it set up where you can run as an exahbition race and get a feel for next season...no you can not win the series or money but you will gain a lot of experiance and seat time. Still hope to see ya out for at least one race.
BTRFLZ you have plenty of time for a new tranny to get put in or to put one.
We should have several new racers this weekend....I start course set up tomorrow......will be a blast. :smokin:
BTRFLZ7463 06-01-2010, 11:55 AM i will be at the rest of the races. i do have time to fix the tranny, but thats alot of work for 4 days. i have to pull the motor to get the tranny out. so i will not be there. i will be down for crawl for christ the following weekend, maybe in a different rig.
Jacksfork 06-01-2010, 12:13 PM Sounds good btrflz......see ya at crawl for christ. Crawl4christ.com

gmcxt 06-05-2010, 09:00 PM Wheres our cliffnotes/race summary?
k5king 06-06-2010, 08:20 PM Weenar = Derek West
2nd place = Brandon Davis
3rd place = Levi Shirley
4th place = Brian Shirley 1 lap down, fuel problems
I can't remember your name's but the white YJ still on leafs finished 3 laps total and were used and abused. I foresee a 4 link in their future. :D
Thomas Grady broke a knuckle off on lap 1. Felt bad it happened, that's a damn nice buggy though.
Cody Keller sectioned the front half of the buggy completely off ! The upper motor truss was the only thing holding the front end on. Bent the pass. axle tube about 3" or more and also shattered a wheel.
Tree stumps are a bitch at speed eh guy's ? :flipoff2:
93yj8? 06-06-2010, 10:04 PM What a day.
spent all week chasing down trans issues and getting the motor dialed in. then finishing up some loose ends to pass tech.....
Thomas did get to race the new car last Saturday. short coarse stuff about 20 minuets of seat time.....
Starting line up was drawn out of a hat Thomas Grady "pole position"
Take off the line and approach the woods just a little a head of Cody, I tell Thomas ease up and let Cody go,we have 50 miles of racing,
Before the first obstacle Derick ,Cody and Brian are a head of us. We get to the first obstacle and Derek is already gone Cody and Brian are on the climb,Cody goes most of the way up then does a 180 and drives back down. Thomas hits it the first time and comes up a little short, takes a back hits it again and makes it, getting back in front of Cody and Brian, Derek is no were to be seen.
Thomas is getting use to the new car catches up to Derek and I tell him just relax you are right were you need to be, save the car..
Derek disappears in to the woods in front of us . Thomas gets a little loose on a curve in the coarse, gets in to to the weeds some then Bang....I see the tire ,(all of the tire )up in the air, and the only thing holding it to the car is the brake line:eek:. I get out and have Thomas drive it as far off coarse as it will go, we get the jack and a few tools out and start to disassemble the front end. Thomas sets some body panels up coarse as a warning.
then we start wondering if we are even on the coarse because no one else is passing us.we go back to disassemble and figuring out how to get the parts we need, then hear comes Cody then Brian,,and every body else.
Big thanks to the guys in the white jeep , they stoped and let us take there whole tool box out of the rig,( all 90#), damm they had a lot of tools.
The spindle bolts striped out of the knuckle, the knuckle broke in 3 pieces,(damm brake line still attached:shaking:)..found all the pieces and parts accept the upper kingpin bushing, no big deal we have one of those back at the pits.
I figure hell we have lots of time i just walk to parts back to the Pitts weld it back together, walk back , reassemble and still have time to run some more
I made it down to the creek at the bottom of double whammy, took another look at the map and the clock realized it just wasn't going to happen. no way to walk back to the pits, fix it ,and walk back Up to the top of log jam and on to rocky road...........................That's racing, still sucks
Thanks to Walt Gilbert & Mark Vittetow for taking care of all the pit work, putting the car back together, finding the parts in all the "tool boxs"and loading all that stuff back on the trailer, Thomas and I could not race with out your help.
Thanks to all the teams that took the time to drop more water off for Thomas when he was waiting on coarse, all the people that were help full at the bottom of double whammy, the guy that brought Thomas back to the Pitts and all volunteers that help make this race happen.

The stumps suck,,,,,they are off the coarse though,,,stay on the coarse and there is room to go fast,,,
We saw Codys car also, that thing was a big mess ,and Cody had a ball joint 60, Thomas' TRENT FAB buggy had a SOLID AXLE brand kingpin 60. and old school ALLIED BEAD LOCKS.
our chassie is just fine,so is the axle tube, So i guess the bolts on the spindle were our "fuse" . After looking at Codys chassie I could not beleave the the ball joint didn't just give out first. We all feal bad for those guys they have a lot off work to do.Good luck , you have lots of time before the next race
younggun56 06-07-2010, 06:35 AM Once again very proffessional race Brandon cant wait for the third one maybe next time i will see more of the course :D
COME GET YA SOME 26 06-07-2010, 09:15 AM That guys name is Daniel Stricklin and spotter Jeremy Behr. They are racing with CGYS MOTORSPORTS. They went into the race not really knowing what to expect and did a great job. They beat their rig down, helped everyone they could and had a blast doing so. Hopefully with some modifications to the entire jeep, they will make it back and get a full finish. Tough breaks for Thomas and Cody, but I'm sure theyll all be back.
Jacksfork 06-07-2010, 09:24 AM SMORR'S second Outlaw Offroad endurance race series is OVER....Here are the final numbers

THANKS Daniel and Jeremy, i remember racing with Daniel at he last moroc last year, saturday was a long hot day, (to much walking)
. is on me next time i see you guys !
93yj8? 06-08-2010, 08:46 PM any pics ?
yield2me 06-17-2010, 06:07 PM Why are pictures of the course/obstacles impossible to find?? I found a few on here of one climb and a creek bed. Is that all SMORR has? There are no pics on the SMORR website of the outlaw series that I have seen.
Just trying to do some couch pre-running since I cant work on the junk until after dark since its so damn hot out.
Rob
k5king 06-17-2010, 07:08 PM Pic's from the events are hard to come across seeing as the first one was held during a monsoon and the second was after the holiday. Not many spectators came out even though it was nice out. Some of the obstacles are just not spectator accessible without a hike as well.
SMORR doesn't have anyone out running around taking pics either. All the help is,, well, " helping " during the events. It's also a fairly " new " park as well. Not many use the web site it seems but there were 300-500 plus groups of people there in the last few months.
Maybe they don't know what digital cameras are that far west and south ?
Believe me that's not all it has to offer. It has trails that resemble Rausch and Harlan mixed together.
yield2me 06-17-2010, 08:03 PM Thanks Matt...
It seems from searching that i am not the only one searching for pics of the events. After being at Rausch, I can see where these courses can make it difficult for spectators to reach....one of the things we take for granted at KOH. The vast openess of the desert enables spectators to be EVERYWHERE!!
I will keep looking around, just trying to get an idea of how we should set the junk up based on the terrain.
See ya in a few weeks!!
Rob
Jacksfork 06-20-2010, 06:28 PM Yes we have had problems getting pics.....one part of the whole scheme of things i am trying to improve. Thanks for answering his question Matt. I just got back from out of town. I assure you we will have a wicked course set up for you all when you get here. Should be plenty of picks after the Qualifier :D I would bet.....
COME GET YA SOME 26 06-21-2010, 08:34 AM So, is the third Outlaw race still on?
k5king 06-21-2010, 08:00 PM So, is the third Outlaw race still on?
Sept. 18th is the 3rd one and Nov. 6th the fourth. The KOH race is not considered as part of the SMORR Outlaw race's.
You have that thing Frankensteined back together yet ?
COME GET YA SOME 26 06-21-2010, 08:12 PM Thanks for reply. SMORR didnt have the Sept race listed on their calendar. They had the fourth race listed, but no third. Anyway, Thanks for clarification.
Still looking for pics...
OJTV8XJ 06-22-2010, 06:59 AM I don't have any pics but you may be able to see something in these videos. Disregard any of the conversation and the 9 year old yelling for Derek and Brian. This is one of the hill climbs (Full Throttle) that became a bottle neck. The area doesn't really lend itself well to video so .... I hope that it helps.

YouTube - outlaw racing, SMORR, PT2 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZdQiaSeNY1c)
I couldn't get the video's to embed, so you get links.
Thank you, is that pretty typical of the terrain? need to setup the car suspension and tires...
OJTV8XJ 06-22-2010, 09:57 AM Yeah, that is a pretty good representation. I would say 1/2 the hill climbs are going to be loose stuff with a couple of ledges and the other half will be shelves with loose stuff between. Look up vidoes of Double Whammy on you tube as a good representation of the other type of climb.
Hope that helps you in your setup and see you on the 10th!
Jacksfork 06-22-2010, 12:17 PM Thanks Matt....yes the 3rd race is in sept.
