Here's the deal. I want to tube my EB either off the existing frame or just use all the drive train. I can probably only afford the prior. The tub/weight has to go. I have access to the equipment for this and plenty of time off...not working. Money is another story, but...oh well. I will just have to find a way. Have I ever bent a tube? No. So what...You have to start somewhere.
Anyone want to do this with me? I live in Folsom CA Anyone done this before? Anyone with CAD experience?
Here's the list of parts I plan to use: D44R front, 9" rear, Coilovers, Hydo stearing, Atlas, Tranny...?NP is cheap.
:rasta:
A guy on one of the Bronco lists recently completed a tube chasis EB. Here is a picture:

Tube chassis EBs are a pretty popular topic on the Broncofix.com email list. Might want to stop in there.

Take a closer look. No floor pans, no tailgate, no inner fenders, no top....
It looks like the only part of the origional frame is there to hold the engine and transmission, the rest is tube and a few hundred pounds seats and panels. Not much body there, most of the weight is in running gear.
That must be Lee's rig hu?

That is Lee and he is on the Broncofix mailing list.
Back to your original post, I'd like to come over and bend with you. I'm about to do the same to mine (only keep the body) and haven't done any bending so I'd like to help and learn.

Sounds great. I always can use help. And you're in luck. The bender is in Elk Grove. I will let you know when I start. It should be the beginning of January. Baby due on the 28th of October. What are you looking to add...rock protection..Rollbars...?

Congrats on the kids. Baby due late October? Could be later than January before you start. ha ha.
I'm actually going to be starting in a couple of weeks. If you want to cruise on over, you can learn from my mistakes!

Jack- Give me a shout when you are working your junk. I have no motivation to get mine back together but would be more than happy to come over and lend a hand.

Brian, will do. I'm building new cabinets right now and a welding table after that. Then I need to figure out how to get my bronco rollable so I can push it around the shop. I'm considering some of those car dollies that are supposed to go under each tire and stacking some 4x4's under them for clearance.
Bender should be here today or tomorrow. If I get my shiat in a pile by next week I'll get the tubing and start making preparations.
It would be cool to have somebody to come over and give me a hand. Sanity checks are very valuable!
Hope everything is going better for you over there!
