This is a very easy question, i just don't know it:flipoff2: I am picking up a COMPLETE (absolute) 1989-1990 TBI 350, now it is as complete as you can get. It comes w/ the computer and wiring harness. What im confused about is, is that all i need for the motor to crank up? or will i mess with the wiring harness, even though it's already connected in this dudes truck. Basically since it has the wiring harness already attached and computer...im not going to have to figure out all the BS of the wiring harness am i? The only wiring that i am going to have to *FIGURE* out is the wiring in my dash, for the guages and lights and anything else on the dash.

going in a 1 ton scout:flipoff2:

i read this, this might be confusing...HELP;)

Since the motor is coming with the harness, it will save you a big headache, but you will still have to route all of the wiring into the dash, find a place for the computer and route the harness for that too. Also, gonna need an electric fuel pump to feed the motor, doubt the scout came with that. not to mention all of the emissions that came with the motor (If your in CA, luckily my state doesn't do any of the sniff tests) Plus there will probably be odds and end stuff I am not thinking of, like splicing the harness into the existing scout one for the ignition, etc. Getting the COMPLETE motor is the easiest route, but it is gonna take some work to get it in. Good Luck!!!!:D

this motor is absolutely complete, as in the way it is in his truck...im taking ALL of that. I don't have to pass emissions b/c the vehicle is older than 25 yrs.

Im getting EVERYTHING on this motor and it's already hooked up, all i have to do is figure the wiring from the dash to the harness right??

You will have to figure out which wires you will need to splice from the engine harness to your Scout harness. Best way to do this is get a schematic for your Scout and one from the donor truck. Its time consuming, and can be somewhat confusing, this is why some folks opt to buy a custom harness. Cost money, but saves time and headaches.:skull:

take a look a diy-efi.org or com. Site has useful info on it. Has a pinout of the computer telling you what has power and when. Shouldn't have a issue with the gauges and dash lights unless you are taking the fuseblock from the donor truck. Just get all relays, senors, and aldl connetor from inside the truck. Custom efi.com also has some useful info.

or spend 350 bucks and get a painless harness:flipoff2:

if i decided to get the painless wiring, which one? i didn't see one for the year of this motor. I did see where it said which one for the scout.

Do i just get the 12 circuit wiring system? I just don't know much about this stuff:flipoff2:

I know this is an old post but I just have one question. I am building a trail rig. It will have only two or three guages( tach, oil press, temp) so if i got the entire harness that plugs into the computer, along with the fuel pump, it should fire up right? I would just have to route the wires and mount the computer? thanks
