You guys had any experience with either one? My friend is in a quandry on which to get, doesn't think he needs the power of a Raptor. As I pointed out, it doesn't matter how much power the bike has you're the one twisting the throttle. Any input would be appreciated.
id say get the 400ex, theyve done tests and the raptor doesnt have that much more power. the raptor is also big and bulky, the ex you can whip around anywhere. ive only ridden the ex and i was hooked, if i ride a raptor ill let ya know
and by the way, you push the throttle on atvs unless you get a twist throttle kit

Honda will always be the better buy.
Raptor 660cc --- 71 mph
400 EX 397cc --- 65 mph
Seems to me that if honda added 263ccs more to their engine then el rator would be no more. I own an Alba Warrior because i like revers and the sixth gear. Honda doesn't offer that. My Warrior clocked 63mph before i ran out of road.
I love my Raptor. I would have to say that I like it better on the track and dunes then the 400ex, but the smaller 400 is better in the woods and trails. Just my .02cents.

I like the feel of the Honda but it depends on where he wants to ride. If it is sand the Banshee is the only way to go.

i'm a dirtbike fan myself, but my buddy has a DS650 and that is way better than a banshee or the ex's. Thats our preference of riding styles though. that big and bulky thing is a cop out, its all how you ride and what you want to do. If you ride dunes, bigger is better.

Banshees suck. Two carbs to dial in, two stroke picky motors. I could swap in a 400 kit to my warrior and beat a banshee ( stock of coarse ). They sure look sweet when they are all tricked out though. And they are awesome in the dunes if you can get them dialed in. Snowman, your banshee does look saweet.

You guys must live in a cave or something. There has not been a quad that can touch the Banshee for a long time. They are super easy to mod. As for the DS650 unless you have rode both you should not speak. I have rode the DS650, it's a pig.
Setting the carbs on a Banshee is super easy. Buy a jet kit so you have them all and jet it according to the mods. I did the work to mine myself and it turned out great. I did send it to the shop and have it tuned on the dyno and it helped but not enough to justify the cost.
I will admit that riding a Banshee thru the slow section of the woods sucks, but then you crack the throttle and leave everyone else behind and you forget about it.

Sorry dude I would have to disagree with you on the DS650, this quad has way to much front end weight! Banshee's are the shit when it comes to any kind of terrain!! A stock banshee with a few add on parts will be way more suffecient(sp?) than any other quad you could buy. The raptor doesnt have all that much more power and is all around to heavy. If you want a quad to throw around it would have to be a banshee. The 400ex would be my second choice. But I sold my bashee and got a cr250, I believe bikes are more fun.

Preach on man!!! your are so right about the banshee. The only thing I never liked about mine was that you have to stay on the gas, but I believe that its with all banshee's, not sure. But once you have an open strech you can dust or sand anyone around. I am glad to see there are more Banshee lovers out there.

Any bad talk about stock banshees is fine because I think they are slow also. For a stock bike folks think they are fast but they are not if you ask me. When I got my first banshee I thought it was fast then I bought my other one and never rode the other one again. My last 2 banshees would kick the crap out of anything except the other banshees with the 500 whatever stroker motors. A Banshee is what you need if you want to go fast on the sand. 4 strokes and stock quads can not even come close.

I'm probably going to get the 400ex because for the extra $1500 I can get a pipe etc, and all my riding gear.

what type of riding are you planning on?
dunes, trails, rubicon?
I personally have one race Honda 250X and two Polaris 4x4 quads..one 2 stroke, one 4 stroke. Both are fun trail machines, ok duners, but rock when it comes to snow/ boulders.
I just get in a lot of situations where 2wd just doesnt cut it no matter how much motor you have.

alright i give up, i wont argue anymore. I don't even own a 4 wheeler and never will. I just ride them every weekend cause all my friends have them. I ride dirtbikes, and well i think you'll agree that 4wheelers can't hold a candle to them. You guys go ride your little banshee's, have a grand ole time.
