I need to know some measurements

Dana 30 from XJ:
- width overall and width width between coil mounts

Dana 44 from 77-79 Ford 1/2 ton:
- width overall and width width between coil mounts

Also, any other information on the conversion (Ford RR Dana 44 into XJ utilizing the radius arms) would be heplful.

Thanks.

go over to NAXJA.org, and do a search there. several of the guys there have done this swap.

Hrm I thought the 77-79 ford front ends were all leaf sprung. I'd double check that comment about coil mounts. All the ones I've seen had spring perches around 31.5" apart.

In a word, NO. Most Ford 1/2 tons are Coils and radius arms on the front, F-150 ex-cabs and F-250's and 350's were leafs. Bronco's were all coil front. I too am curious about the Dana 44 measurements for my chart, coil CL to CL and WMS to WMS being most important.

Just cuz I'm a Jeep and Chevy guy doesn't mean I don't know anything about Fords, or Toyota's for that matter, now Dodges, there's a whole 'nother aminal, ain't got no tech on dem dare Dodges.

(edit: I was typing so fast I didn't see that I said 250's and 350's had coils, oops, fixed it)

I can help with the XJ D30 measurements, I have one sitting in the back yard, just a minute...........
Okay, between the centers of coil spring seats is 36.25". The coils are 5.125" diameter. Between the wheel mounting surfaces (hat of the disc) is 61.25"

My 79 Bronco front 44 was 65.5" from WMS-WMS. I couldn't tell you about the coil cups because I don't have them.
All the radius arm bracketry is bolt on for the Fords. You can unbolt it all from the frame and adapt it to your XJ as well as the coil/shock towers. I have seen TJ's running this setup, but the radius arm limits flex. You may want to get a wristed radius arm.
