Hey, i am moving to Laramie Wyoming in September to attend Wyotech and i am wondering what type of wheeling the territory offers, is there any mud or is it just rocks and snow (i am told its a really cold version of eastern oregon).

I drive a 1978 ford f150, 460bbf c6 np205, 3.50 open front and rear, 2" leveling in the front otherwise stock suspension with 255/85/r16 Remington mud brutes.

Basically its good for trails and a fair amount of mud, its not a rock crawler nor am i willing to even try, its not my type of wheeling, im more of a mud and rutted trail type of guy.

Does Wyoming offer my type of wheeling (the type you find in the Willamette valley in oregon) or is it all just snow, rocks, and dust.

If so then its not really worth taking my truck as the drive over there would be a waste of gas.

as long as it rains like it normally does there is always mud there are a few trails just east of town. I believe you can get to them from wister dr. I don't know if your supposed to wheel over there. I'm not sure who owns the property but there always used to be lots of people who wheel and ride atv over there.

I haven't lived down there for a couple of years but I think its some sort of public property. We go do some of or drill activity's for the national gaurd.

There are some trails close to Laramie, just over the CO border. that is called the mud loop. It consits of three different trails. There is also muddy creek in Snowy range, about 35-40 miles from Laramie.
Becareful up in Vedevoo trails east of Laramie. DO NOT GET CAUGHT off the trails. Forest service can and will ticket you and can take your truck, mandatory federal court, (in Cheyenne) and up to $25000 fine. One of my fellow tech students got a $4500 fine for helping pull another rig out. he was barely off the trail.
The off road area off Wister dr. is county property. but you can only go so far then it is closed to motorized vehicles. I have been there when the Sheriff were out there. I never got stopped but I never crossed the line either.

If you have an ATV you might have more luck to find wheeling spots. Albany is pretty sweet.
