so i just wasted the last 15 min typing some BS about my plight and i'm just going to hit the high points and be done.

vehicle pictured below: chevy colorado chevy 6 bolt 6x5.5

Need to lift the back by a spring over conversion.

broken g80 big surprise! $1400 to fix... um no

wms to wms is approx 62in

will late 80's yota axle off a pickup or 4runner fit closely?

what is the legnth of the axle and is the third member longer than my current pumkin?

drive shaft will need to be longer if the third member is the same legnth. i have access to a 2 piece drive shaft that will work without any problems if i were to keep the stock axle

any and all issues that i have not found yet or have over looked.
any help is greatly appreciated. thanks guys

just a guess but your only choice will probably be a full width axle example my F250 axles are 64 wms-wms

ok what about the bolt pattern? how difficult would that be to convert it back.

honnestly if i wanted to do a full SFA i'll get full size axles but i'm thinking on keeping it 2wd and getting a yota or jeep later days for more serious wheeling

If its just a 2wd truck, forget the BS and go find another Colorado junkyard axle and swap in.

this is the second g80 thats broken. the previous owner wheel hopped the crap out of the truck and a piece got caught up in the ring and pinion and destroyed the whole thing $1800 later new gears and carrier only to chip the apply on the pawl and now it's a peg leg.
i'm going to spend a little bit of money to do it up right and not worry about it ever again. had i planned on going to the junk yard and get another aam 800 i wouldn't have post up with these questions.

pony up that money that you would have spent on getting it rebuilt and call up currie, rock crusher, dynatrac, competion engineering or any one else that makes axles and have them build you one to suit.

the 62" wms is a fucked up deal, yota stuff is going to be narrow[unless you try a modern t100/tundra] and real axles are going to be wide[except for a skinny 14bff which you dont even want to get into]

currie is right down the street from me but i dont have the coin to do that.

ultimately my truck will be off road capable. pulling my rig to and from the trails and an ocassional trail or two. once i move up state i will need to have the dependability of a locker without the worry of it breaking.
i already have spacers up front to bring the wheels out a bit so i'm not worried about 58 inches.

whats a good price for a decent locker for the yota axle? what would i be looking at for a full hub to hub setup?
