I have them in my 18, but for a centered rear I'd go Atlas

didn't think you could use normal d20 kits on the th400 version

What Scott said. I think the price difference isn't enough to warrant the O'brien gears. 3.8 Atlas's aren't that spendy.

I've been down that road, I decided on the Atlas. The price difference doesn't warrant going with the Dana 20. Even the 4.3 is worth it vs. the 20 in relation to cost. If you decide on the Atlas PM me and I can point you in the right direction. :D

i'm thinkin the o'brien route will be 2k with hvy duty output shaft. I spoke to jack yesterday. as far as the th400 goes he has a in piece output shaft for the trans in the works as we speak (dec./jan.) he said . i forgot about the 3.8 atlas how much is that one. my main problem as you all well know is d-shaft length. is the atlas longer than my 20?:)

The atlas is longer than the 20 but you have to consider your adapter as well. I gained 2" in the adapter and lost 3 in the t-case. So I only lost 1". Depends on what you have now and who you go with for the adapter... Novak or Advance. Often their lengths are different. 3.8.....PM me
