So I picked up an 87 through my buddy who is attending the local branch of Kent State University. They were cleaning out the tech building and pretty much everything they had two of... one was getting liquidated. I got this for $375 along with 5 packs of bulk blade. Everything is in mint condition. All of the original decals, stickers, logos, warnings etc. are intact and beautiful. The earliest dates I can find are on the wiring diagram and it says '63. No whether this was made before then I'm not sure.
Anyway. Upon arriving home and moving this beauty into my garage and attempting to re-assemble it I run into a bit of a snag...
The instructor had been nice enough to remove the table to make it a bit lighter and easier to maneuver. This was welcomed by myself and my buddy- the two lucky enough to load her up! I can't find a manual for this on line and the instructor is now out of town for the weekend, teaching God knows where- otherwise I'd be able to find my own answer in less than a heartbeat!
The vertical screw leading up to the table, used for adjustment, has a gear threaded onto the bottom of it. It of course meshes with the gear on the horizontal shaft that leads to the crank on the case. When the table is set onto the frame and the gear is threaded onto the screw it wants to ride up and down on said screw when the crank is turned instead of raising or lowering the angle of the table. From what I gather, a thrust bearing goes on the screw (something about that just sounds wrong! :flipoff2:) above the gear. Does anyone happen to know of a model number for this thrust bearing? I need to order one.
And in the mean time is the idea of just using a stack of washers an option? I don't need to use the table in any position other than flat at the moment.
