My original 302 in my EB is begining to take a dump right now, and i cant get it to pass emmissions either. I want to take the 351W out of my Mustang until i can afford to put a late model 5.0 in the EB. What i need to know is what problems will i run into? I know ill need a new oil pan. Is there a problem running the stock crank pulley thats on the 351W now? Its a bigger diameter pulley then the stock EB pulley, i dont know if it will interfere with that front frame member or not. Also i have a brand new exhaust system installed, will i have to rehang it or should everything bolt up? Anything else im missing? I dont have power steering installed so i dont have to worry about that, and i would just be using the same alternator and brackets from the mustang so those should work as well. Will i have any problems with the water pump or other wierd crap that im to tired to think of?

Yes you will need a new oil pan, that is if you were considering using the stock 302 pan. The 351W has larger main bearings, 3.00", so the 302 pan will not bolt on. As for the exhaust system, the 351W has a 1.1" higher deck height, this raises the cylinder heads up and out as compaired to the 302. You will need to rehang the exhaust. Not sure about the front pulley I don't own an EB. I don't know about your state, but in California any inspector worth his salt will notice the difference in the front of the engines and question the engine swap. Good luck.

Most of the 302 stuff will fit on the 351 w/o modification, except the PS and alternator brackets. You can buy adapters for these from Jeff's Bronco Graveyard for $15 each or make you own (they're very simple). Don't let it sit too long in the Bronc, you may find you no longer want the 5.0:D You might just slap EFI on the 351 and stoke it out to 393:D :D :D

I was planing on buying a new pan. Just the exhaust thing is annoying because this is the 2nd time a new exhaust has been put on it, and i didnt think id ever have to dick with it again. Id love to keep that 351W in my Bronco but i need a motor for my Mustang so it has to go back in once i find a FI motor. Any other suggestions?

Get a 302 from a junk yard that will last ya til you get the new real motor that will stay in your bronco. Swaping back and forth seems kinda pointless. Find a decent 302 for cheap and swap it in.
