: can I run 1tons with 4.0/aw4/np231???
blazinjames 05-07-2010, 09:46 PM I know this question has probably been asked a million times but I cant find the answer Im looking for so here it is:
I just got a a 4.0L with over 400kms on it Im planning on rebuilding probably going stroker way
and once Im done the engine and install it I want to upgrade axles and suspension.
I really like the idea of going with one ton axles and 44s then doing a link suspension.
My question is if I get one tons out of a f350 or something can I use them with a 4.0L and the aw4/np231??
if not what does it take to run 1 tons?
thanks
rok-jeep 05-07-2010, 10:29 PM wow.....
armyxj 05-07-2010, 11:30 PM it takes cutting , chopping , welding and money.emphasis on the money!!! if you gear something low enough a briggs n stratton could move it good...
keepviper13 05-08-2010, 12:26 AM No way to do it... It just won't bolt together no matter how many adapters you get...
If you start with a chevy 6.2l non turbo diesel you'll have the right bolt pattern and you should be good to go...
eflores 05-08-2010, 12:34 AM dude a 6.2 wont do it...you need an LLY D Max
ONEtonXJ 05-08-2010, 01:04 AM wow.. fuck yourself..

KD96XJ 05-08-2010, 10:54 AM Lets not stray off topic.
Your cigarette lighter will not be up to the task of one-tons and make sure to run one of those little tree air freshners for proper weight distribution.
Starboard M 05-08-2010, 01:11 PM Really? Mines white. I broke the windshied.
Do you have to break the windshield in order to use 1 ton axles?
Also, mine is white, but there is some black on the bumpers and rock rails. Would this affect which axles I need to look for? I know people were talking about green, but anyone have suggestions for the white?
TabooCustoms 05-08-2010, 02:14 PM My XJ is yellow, and my steering box is messed up, I'm thinking of painting the XJ red to fix it. What shade would make it work the best?

im hoping the ram doesn't eat the first rock im meat next weekend, , i afraid its too low to run a skid without effecting my clearance, but i still think im going to eventually relocate jsut for good measure, and great explaination on the pics,,,, cleat/green/orange.
CTeunuch 05-09-2010, 08:48 AM mine has wood grain, does that mean i need to run wagon wheels?

No, but you have to break the side mirrors or you wont have enough clearance. You also need to get need air filter box retainers. 1 tons will put too much force on them. :p
As for the white...well its just hard to work with. Im finding the more colors I paint it, the easier it is to work on. It's really liking the burnt copper I've been adding but It shoudlnt affect your axle choice. The white will puke back up a TTB 60 so just avoid that and you should be ok. Or you could always piant it green and it would litterally build itself. :flipoff2:
blazinjames 05-10-2010, 10:52 AM Thank you for all the helpful responses..
