I want to get my OBA done by next weekend, but the stock AC lines on my XJ's Saden compressor are giving me problems. Here is the problem, the line itself has a 5/8" ID and I want to adapt it to a 3/8" NPT male fitting, but I can't find anything out there to do this for me. I was planning on just slicing the stock AC line about 8 inches back on the rubber and popping in a fitting, cranking it down with a hose clamp, and then hooking it to the rest of the system. So does anybody know of any online retailer that may have the fitting and the reducing bushing to go from 5/8" to 3/8" NPT?

The other option is to order Brad Kilby's fittings which replace the stock manifolds and output to a 1/2" NPT male. The problem with these are that I need to retain the stock manifold (at least on the intake side) in order to access the service port for the oiling system. The other problem is that they are $25 and I'm cheap :flipoff2:

So, help a guy out. How can I retain the stock manifolds and connect a different hose or fitting to get to 3/8" NPT male on the cheap?

www.mcmastercarr.com has all kinds of nifty stuff.

try your local ferguson supply or equivalent plumbing supply house. they have all kinds of bushings, and whatever they dont have in stock they can probably order.

i have a local place called american hose and hardware that has all kinds of funky stuff. check for mom and pop places like that.

goodyear has an air hose setup with ends you can push into hoses and you dont even need a hose clamp (id use one anyway).

are kilby's $25 each and you need 2? dayum. id just rig it with some of those goodyear thingies if you want a quick fix

I cut the hoses about a foot from the pump, the in got a baby K&N type filter, the other I got a pressure regulator valve from napa and just plugged it in and used a hose clamp like you were mentioning. I dont have a tank or any thing, and use a water oil seperator on my air hose.

Thanks for the help!

indulf - I completely forgot that McMaster-Carr stocked fittings. I just checked them and sure enough, they have what I needed. They only sell them in packs of 5, but for only $6 for all 5, I can't complain. I did check some of the mom and pop places around here and they didn't have much to offer in the way of selection. I live in a small down in the middle of nowhere, so sometimes uncommon parts are a little hard to come by. They all have plenty of 1/4" and 3/8", but anything larger is difficult. Thanks again bud.
