Not as far as I know. CJ5s, and replacement tubs for CJ7s can be had without tailgates.

Yeah, lots of northern Michigan CJ-7's come without tailgates, well, the tailgate is still there, but is usually welded closed and covered with a healthy coat of bondo.

Nope, all CJ-7's had tailgates.

Cool, thanks. Mine doesn't have one and just wanted to know if it was stock. I guess not. I wonder why the hell the PO removed it? Oh well, no biggie. :)

Um, POs have a knack of having zero logic or intelligence. My exhaust was held together with a c-clamp and a pair of Vicegrips.

And that, apparently, was fine in their mind.

Haha. No kidding? The exact same thing was on my Chevy's exhaust when I got it. Vice grips and bailng wire. Thats funny as hell. :D

most all of the fiberglass tubs i have seen do not have tailgates

I have never seen a CJ-7 with OEM body that didn't have a tailgate, that is if someone hadn't modified it.
