: Info on KOH Qualifier at Badlands
There are big questions raised about the style of course we will running in October. We are trying to keep everyone informed of what our plans our. We feel that KOH staff has picked several good locations around the country to hold qualifiers. Each location has certain qualities that makes them good sites for the race. In holding our event here, we feel that the desert style sections of The Badlands makes us unique to other venues. Our strategy is to help everyone prepare for the ultimate race out at the Hammers. Our course will not be focused on rock crawling, it will be focused on high speed desert racing with jumps, hills, etc. Along the lines of TREC. We feel if you race the other qualifiers, and you combine the knowledge you've learned from each event site, you will be the best prepared for the big day in February.
This will be our focal point of our UMC day in October. We have booked this along with cross country atv/bike racing and motocross racing, along with a few others for that day. It will be a weekend to remember.

As long as the car is prepped when the green flag drops BITD and Outlaw Extreme, I could care less.... you pay the gas:flipoff2:
HeavyMetalXJ 05-14-2010, 01:24 PM Sounds pretty awesome.
balduccibrosracing 05-14-2010, 01:28 PM will the entry fee for this race be similar to the RCQ?
bigsilly 05-14-2010, 03:28 PM You can count on Camco Rock Racing making the trip from Mississippi for this!

The next TREC race is June 5th and should be a bigger event. We are working with another race series called MAORA and they will be bringing a whole crew of 2wd race trucks for a whole new class of racing!
just curious.
How many qualifying spots?
There will be 3 qualifying spots for the KOH qualifer.

5.9 GIRL 05-18-2010, 12:52 PM :DEek!!! I'm so excited! Rosco said i can bring the grand and transport peeps around the park! We're here for you kyle!!
lwt002 05-18-2010, 08:18 PM Hey 5.9 - Your post gave me a great idea! I've got a M715 just laying around wasting away. Maybe we should turn it into a Badlands KOH spectator transport vehicle for the event! I could even bring down a big hay wagon and tow that around too.
We could use it to move people around the park to key spectator areas...

So is that top 3 spots to those who arent already qualified?
i.e. Someone finishes 12th but 9 out of the top 12 are already qualified then there in?
Jeff Knoll 05-19-2010, 07:59 AM They have 3 spots to transfer, what ever it takes to get three spots. Three new people from that race are going to the 2011 Griffin King of the Hammers.

jeepguru7 07-06-2010, 02:41 PM Knowing how small the Badlands park is compared to JV or RC, will a GPS be necessary? Or will the course be marked well enough with out one.
Thanks
If all goes well we will be there, new motor is on the way:D Just need to fishish building the car now:shaking:

They do a very good job of marking the course, provided they are running it the same way as the TREC races, which i believe is what they are doing. I have no trouble following the course when i run in the TREC races
4Linked 07-06-2010, 04:31 PM I am in for the race. I have alot to do though

Heres my question. Would GPS even work on majority of the trails down at the badlands. Im not hugely familer with GPS since ive only used my dads on long trips but there are alot of wooded sections that you cant really see the sky on. I know Rosco uses it cause he was bragging about some ridiculous speed he got on the big straight away.
That would would be a question better answered by someone whos uses it. But like Richie, said Kyle and Larry have done a wonderful job marking everything with huge orange arrows and as long as you have a spotter doing his job you wont have any problems.
AlumCJ 07-08-2010, 09:02 AM necessary, no, but my spotter calls out every turn using it every TREC race. if you are planning on koh, i say buy now and get used to the thing.

JohnnyJ 07-08-2010, 01:44 PM necessary, no, but my spotter calls out every turn using it every TREC race.

He needs to start calling out trees, too.

Hey - I obviously did not make it down there this weekend. My wife had surg two weeks ago and she was not confident she could handle the kids by herself...
How did you and Roscoe do?
LT
umbrobryan 07-11-2010, 09:52 AM Rosco Got 4th place and is officially in the 2011 KOH. I got to watch most of live on pirate.
Thank you pirate for working out the bugs when they arose. It was the first time iv'e watched live T.V. on the net and it was pretty cool.
mtaylo21 07-11-2010, 09:55 AM Maybe I'm blind.....what's the date in Oct?
umbrobryan 07-11-2010, 07:48 PM No your not blind, atleast not on this thread. It hasnt been stated here yet. How ever if you were to look here you will be seeing 20/20 http://pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=848971&highlight=trec OCT 3, 2010. Its gonna be a blast so plan on being there.

The calendar on the Badlands website says that this race is on OCTOBER 2. What is the correct date? Kyle or Larry?
lwt002 07-14-2010, 11:21 AM October 2nd.
Same track as what we ran the last time (or close to it) but time will be longer - possibly 4 hours.
Dr Dino 07-15-2010, 04:35 AM October 2nd.

Definately think this race needs to be "X" amount of laps. like 9 or 10 sounds good to me!
that would be around 80-90 mile race! dont worry all.........its all go fast so that would be around a 3-4 hour race. :D
lwt002 07-15-2010, 06:08 AM Your right, probably number of laps. That worked better. We would set the number of laps to equal an estimated amount of time and miles, etc...
I need a Branik T Shirt!
Dr Dino 07-15-2010, 06:58 AM I need a Branik T Shirt!
We'll bring a bunch next race!!!!!!

x3!! The lap race was much better :D
umbrobryan 07-15-2010, 05:11 PM I think I just came up with a whoop ass ideal. Have the race start and the last 3 out there still going after everyone else breaks will be the winners with the #1 guys having the most laps in. Sounds fantastic to me.
Xjcrawler736 08-23-2010, 08:50 AM I am going to bump this to the top. Just got word I might be racing this event and there still isn't much info or details about the race.
Jeff, Dave, Kyle.... Any more info?
whypave 08-23-2010, 09:51 AM I'd like to know more as well such as when/where to register for the race.
Looking forward to racing at the Badlands. it will be tight making sure we are ready since its the weekend after the next RC race.
lwt002 08-23-2010, 10:49 AM Stay tuned... more info on the way.
