That title may be confusing. Basically I have a dryer plug right through the wall from my car port and I am wondering If the 220 dryer plug has enough juice to run this welder safely.

My dryer breaker is a 40 amp, and looks like about 10 gauge wire.

Thanks for any input.

If its a 40A circuit it should be at least 8 gauge and will be plenty fot that welder

Hey thanks for the relies, that will save me a lot of work wiring a separate outlet.

As a Follow up which of these welders do will suit my needs better? I am not a great welder and have just picked up a 4 runner that I will be sasing and building sliders and bumpers.

I don't want to out grow the smaller one. But less money spent on the welder means more on my rig.

Consider the 140 useless for what you plan on doing. Go with the 187 AT LEAST. I would even say that you should save a little more and get the 210.

I was debating between the 187 and 210 before I got mine and I was told to go bigger then you think you will need and I am damn glad I did.

By the way, I paid under $800 for my HH210 brand new, so keep looking around. I got mine on clearance from cyberweld. Of course that didn't include a cart, but that is a great project to break the welder in

So back to my original question with regards to the Hobart 210 and my 40 amp

220 outlet. Will the outlet be adequate?

I do appreciate the feed back and am leaning towards the 210 if my current wiring can handle it

Yes the 210 only needs a 30 amp circuit
