My 80 has some pretty nasty looking pinstriping (compelments of previous owner). They seem to be painted over the clear coat..then another clear coat was applied over it.
I have been asking around.."How do i remove these pinstripes?"
A few people have told me that i can get some sort of rubbing compound/light paint remover (?)...and buff them out.
My response to them was :"W.T.F?"
So..has anyone heard of using 'light paint remover' to get rid of painted pinstripes??
What other opttions do I have..??
Thx..

That light paint remover stuff sounds like crap to me...either do a "custom" repaint with rattle cans, or get a whole new paintjob from a shop.

they're thinking fo normal pinstripes, applied over the paint... you're going to have to remove the clearcoat, remove the stripes, then clearcoat again... not fun!
3M makes this really cool wheel that goes into a drill, (it looks like a giant pencil eraser on a stick) and works GREAT for removing pinstripes and stickers, but it won't burn through the clear...

the 3m eraser wheel works great but the topcoat of clearcoat will surely be a problem. I'll asked my body guy today and see if he has an answer for you.
Sometime today my pinstripes are being removed off my 60 using the eraser wheel.
