Sounds like an urban legend, I had 2, 20 liter NATO cans shipped to me in San Diego by Sportsman's Guide. Even asked them about shipping restrictions and they stated there were none for that stock number :D :D .

Went to buy some at the auto parts store for DSI when he ran out of diesel here....They aren't selling certain ones, so I went to a hardware store and got one. :)

California CARB outlawed open gas containers - only thing that can be sold has to be spill-proof, and non-venting.

Look it up on Blitz's site.

You can get spill proof non-venting filler spouts for em though.

Note: the new spouts suck totally, takes 4 times as long to empty the fuel outa the gerry can and since you have to press down to open them if you have an older vehicle they can be a huge PITA to use.

You have to ask for a 5 Gallon Red Blitz Water jug ;)

I had bought a can this past summer that had one of those crappy plastic fillers. The filler is so short that I couldn't put more than half the can into the tank of my Samurai.

The fix for it was that the place also sells the metal flexible fillers and metal caps. Just drill a small hole in the edge so that the cap covers the whole, but the filler doesn't (the filler is slightly smaller). Then you can use the non-leaking/non-vented cap when transporting and the filler still works because of the new vent hole.

HAHAHAHA I had the same problem with my dodge, so I broke out a funnel and poured it into it with an open top. Gee that really prevented fumes from escaping didnt it?

This is a very good deal on new NATO jerry cans, dunno if you can get it shipped to the PRK:

http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/ctd/product.asp?sku=ZAA%2D090&mscssid=0VCB6C8S5LRF8J5761EGVMUWFEQ8BUP6

I recommend, however, that you get the Wedco/NATO nozzle from Back Country Trailers or Generator Joe's, the CTD nozzle sucks.

Here's a copy of my Jerry Can Paper for your information and use:

Thanks,
