Is anyone running the ATS Propane setup? I have their 4" high flow exhaust and have been looking at their propane kit. According to their site it makes the motor run cooler and burn diesel more efficiently. Any drawbacks to running propane?

Propane in moderation is good for diesels. Check this guy out, he's not too far from you and knows how to make serious power with or without the BBQ juice. TS Performance (http://www.tsperformanceproducts.com/propane.asp) If you go this route let me know what you do for a tank, I'll be needing one soon!

My next mod is a Suncoast Pro Lok torque converter. I'm hoping to run some 9.40's ( 1/8th mile) next Tuesday night in my tow rig.

I would be real interested in any feedback about propane on a diesel; from what I have read on a couple of sites it is not real clear if the mileage gains relate to just diesel usage, or total fuel usage (i.e. diesel and propane). If it is a gain in overall (combined) fuel usage then it is an awesome modification. However, if it is a 25% gain in mileage based upon just diesel usage (assuming a 4:1 diesel to propane mixture) then it is just a wash. OK, so there is a HP gain and some other fringe benefits:D

Andy, it's my understanding from some of the other sites it's a wash at best. Propane for fuel mileage is not very practical, espcially if you can't keep your foot out of it for fear of loosing the shit eating grin it causes.

At some point if fuel prices continue to rise and natural gases stabilize, then maybe. Until then, add it, buckle up, and hang on!

Mike - I dont mind adding propane for the extra HP - I just don't want to take it in the shorts on overall/effective economy! Make sense?? In other words - if I can still get 13 to 15 MPG (including the gallons of propane used) then I would be happy.

Yep! Makes sense, I struggle with those calculations on a regular basis. The worst part is after you figure the initial cost of a setup and tank, maybe a $1000 for new stuff :mad:

I am way backwards on the investment/return quotient, but the fun is priceless. Shit you only live once!
