Got a problem starting the truck. 1985 Dodge 1 ton 4X4 with a standard transmission. It drags REALLY bad when starting. Have a new battery with a good charge, a new starter as of this morning in the rain, have clean battery connections and it still drags so bad that it is dragging the battery down and almost won't start. Any suggestions short of driving it off a cliff would be appreciated.

You may still have a bad cable even though they are clean.. next time after you try to start it CAREFULLY feel the cable connections to see if one is hot.. If you have a bad one it will get really hot while cranking even if it looks good.. also make sure the battery is grounded directly to the engine and that the ground straps to the body and frame are in place..
