I tried to do a search of the ford 9" rear axle.
I was planning on doing a scout II d44 rear, but i just scored a 350 TPI so i wanted something a little stronger. I have 35" tires and don't want somethign that will drag over everything like a d60 or 14 bolt. Would the 9" be a good axle to use, and can it be found in a 60" wms to wms width? this is for a cj7

it can be found in narrow width (early bonco,or ranchero)in around 60" give or take.and you can buy more parts to upgrade a 9 then any other axle availible.THIS IS THE REAR AXLE THAT THEY USE FOR RACE CARS.And 43 roll off the grid every sunday with 800 horses and you see a couple failures a year out of 36 races times 43 cars.Just make sure you upgrade to 31 or higher spline count.I would recomend 35 spliners for your V-8.

IMO, it's a stout axle but don't expect it to turn 44's stock. A 36 is a about the biggest tire the axle can handle with a nice saftey margin.
Pros:
No carrier breaks
High R&P ratios available
Cons:
Pinion hangs lower then a D44
Have to pull axleshafts to get to the pumpkin
Thats the most that I can think of
