well the topic syas most of it. i have a dana 60 front dually axle, and will be running hummer wheels. so with these wheels i thought it might be a good idea to leave the front 74 inches instead of swapping the hubs. i have a 60 rear also but it is the standard 67 incher. i have heard that a s70 rear was 74, but when i searched all i seemed to find was ones that said 65 inches. so what exactly should i be looking for, thanks for all the help, scott

GM van FF 14 bolts are 70". Not what your looking for , but closer.
74" wide? Wow.... that seems REAL wide for any kind of normal trail use...

I don't have any measurements available but a 14 bolt or a 70 out of a dooly should be about that wide if I remember correctly, usually the track width of the front axle is approximatly the same as the inner rear tire. With the hummer wheels that should be about right for width if you are looking at fullsize truck

well its going on my cj7. and with the 74 inch axles i was thinking with the hummer wheels that would make it about standard full width. but if i went with 68 inch width i was thinking with the hummer wheels it wouldnt be much wider then whati have now? am i wrong? thanks, scott

Yes, you are wrong.
http://www.tennessee4x4.com/toyota/overall_width_calculator.htm
The Java applet is not working, so use the Excel spreadsheet instead.
Stock CJ7 has what - 55" wide axles, 3.5" backspaced wheels 10" wide, and we will say 12.50" wide tires. That gets you an overall width of about 70.5".
So take some 67" wide 1/2 ton "fullsize" axles, running the same wheels and tires and you have a width of 82.5".
Now figure 69" 1 ton axles, Hummer rims (7.25" BS, 9.5" wide), and 15" wide tires and you have a width of 79".
Then - take your 74" wide axles, Hummer rims, and 15" wide tires for a width of 84".
Essentially - 74" wide axles with Hummer rims is about the same width as normal 60 axles with 10" rims, 3.5" BS, and 15" wide tires... And IMHO - that is too wide for maneuverable trail use.

well hell my calculations were way off because i came up with 72 inches. i will go use that spred sheet, but if it is 79 inches i will just go with that and replace the hubs on the dually axle. thanks for all the great info i appreciate ya'll taking the time to help, thanks again, scott
