i would'nt invest in the susp. lifts for the 98- and on. just spend 120 on a body lift. i have seen 1 with the superlift and on with the trailmaster lift. wasn'nt impressed at all. buy the body lift, put it on yourself and then spend the 1500 or so you save on engine and tires.
or rip it all out and go solid.

even with the lift kits you only get like 1" of wheel travel up front.

Only thing no one mentioned is the RCD kit.. it wont be out till Jan but a guy on ORR got a prototype installed on his 02, I think its the only kit worth buying. Basically replaces your torsion bars with coilovers so you dont have to worry about those hanging down and also gives increased wheel travel which the superlift and trailmaster kits do not. The kit is estimated to be 2200$ though, so cheaper than a SAS and if you dont wheel much you will probably be a lot happier with it because im sure the street ride is a lot nicer as well.

Search over at www.explorer4x4.com There's a long standing thread somewhere on the RCD kit and it's devlopment. SAS is the way to go if yer gonna be doin a good bit of wheelin

This is an image of DesertSpive's Ranger out on the Mojave Road. He's currently testing out the kit, and it looks nice. Personally, I am thinking about a Straight Axle conversion would be more durable, but here's the image...

A SAS is definately more durable.. because your options are endless. With the RCD kit your still running the crap CVs which is why desertspive is only running 33s even though he has 5" lift. RCD is good if you dont wheel much and dont plan on going over 35s. But then if dont wheel much why not just get a bodylift and save yourself 2 grand ?

please dont run sas for pre-runnin, it aint made for all that there highspeed compressions....

I think solid axle /w coilovers would still pre-run better than crap SLA.

I'll side with Smart Ass. With a front leaf spring suspension, those springs soak up the bumps on a washboard road pretty darn well...
