My carb on my '74 Scout II 345 has gone belly up. What's the best carb for the money that'll work?

It's 2bbl.

Any problems with the installation with the Truck Avenger, besides the jets, 60s? The Truck Avenger's for a 4bbl right?

the best 2 BB ever built

A Ford Motorcraft off a 302 mustang or any 302 (forgot the number)

dam thing would idel at any angel the truck can sit for 2 month and all I do is go out hit the pedel a few tims and it fires rite up and idels smothly so I can walk away (no fussing with the gas to warm it up)

some have a huge acelerator pump that is in the way of thermostst housing and some have a "resesed" accelerator that works perfely and fits with out hitting the thermostat housing

No need to go to a 4BB besids the advenger is a POS
well its a Holley so thats to be expected

After I got the right jet size everything was great. It's ten times the carburetor the quadrapuke ever was and as for it being a pos because it's a Holley, I won't even dignify that comment with a response. If you want to go with a 2bbl Ford’s motorcraft carburetor is the best, still no truck avenger though.

Thanks afrobinder,

It looks like I might buy that maifold off of Old Scout and go with the Truck Avenger, I think I saw it online for $389-ish which isnt too bad.

So here's a lame ass question, I'm sure I'll get flamed for;

Will a square bore carb fit on a spread bore intake manifold?

The Holley Truck Avenger says it's a square bore card. According to Old Scouts pictures, I believe my Scout has a spread bore manifold, does that matter?

yha, it can , with an adapter..
.. if you go that route id use the edelbrock spacer instead of the cheep adapter you can get at schmucks, pep boys etc..
the reason is the open center ones will disrupt the vaccume signal etc.. resulting in lower torque output, stumbles etc..

you'll need an adapter and if you want a 14" or larger air cleaner you'll need a spacer too.

:confused: Is it not a standard old square bore pattern? Adapters are Boot leg!
