: Run ARB air lockers with CO2 tank or Air Compressor?

What is the best way to run ARB air lockers? I'm not sure if I should go with CO2 or ARB air compressor. What are the pros and cons of each?

With CO2 you can air up your tires and work your ARB's - the Arb compressor takes forever to air-up tires (prolly would burn it out!). Need to put an 80# regulator for ARB's, otherwise you'll blow the seals. Get a low cost regulator from Williams Balloon in Santa Maria CA (805) 922-0564 ($45 shipped +-), get a tank from Harbor Freight and you are set. Use the "manual" switches from Gulf Coast Rover (www.gulfcoastrovers.com) rather than mess around with wiring the ARB switches. JM 2cents:)

Here's a better (cheaper) souce for the toggle valves:

both would be ideal... I don't like the idea of "running out of locker"

if it's one or the other, use co2... the arb compressor is WAY to slow for tires.

Well I already have a CO2 tank set up but the regulator is set at 100psi. I use that for tires and air tools. I just want to know if I should use that to run ARB lockers or buy the ARB coimpressor.

Well, duh! Why not? - you've got all the stuff you need, apart from an extra pressure regulator and toggle switches. CO2 is no different than using air (better maybe, 'cos its dry - compressed air has moisture in it). If ya wanna spend $200+ on an ARB compressor, then go ahead:confused:

So I don't need silinoids(sp?). Just the toggle switches? Is there a place on the web that discribes on how to do this set-up?

Personally I like the ARB compressor setup, if you buy the kit it comes with everything you need, wire harness, solenoids etc...

Krusty is right though about slow tire filling, I usually eat lunch, take a nap, bar-b-que dinner and drink a couple beers while I air up my tires :D

If you go with the ARB it's best to wheel with a friend whose got a York or a CO2 bottle ;)

Check the dudes at POWERTANK! (http://www.powertank.com)

They'll email you a diagram.

One of these days, I'll get around to doing mine. Want to make sure there's a quick release though so I can yank out the tank quickly if needed etc.

Yeah I'm going with the ARB air compressor for the lockers and use my CO2 tank for tires and air tools. I just hate the idea of "running out of locker" like Eskimo said.:D
