: Need help wiring Hella lights

I am trying to wire up Hella Rallye 4000 Halogen lights, (a pair of cornering beams and a pair of euro beams) but the wiring instructions make no sense at all. The cornering beams have two wires (blue, yellow) going into the housing and the euro beams have a connector with three wires (blue, yellow, brown). Nowhere in any of the instructions does it tell me which colour wire is hot or ground and while the shitty included diagram shows the three wire connector (but makes no reference to the two wire) it does not say which wire is for what. I'm hoping that someone out there can help me because I've been searching on the internet and it's getting frustrating.

You should be able to take the lamps apart to sort out the wiring.

2-wire

Use a multi/ohm meter to see whether there is continuity with either lead to the base, but Hella usually uses yellow as 12V+ and blue as a switched 12V- (Ground).

3-wire

Typical Hella suggests that yellow is the 12V+ for the main beam, brown is 12V- (Ground) and blue is the 12v+ for the parking lamp. Here, testing for continuity is your friend or if all else fails, take apart the lamp and see how it's wired up.

Good luck.

Thanks guys! I'm amazed that Hella's instructions are so poor. Almost as if they are Chinese instead of German.

Double check the colors. The brown should be the ground, the blue the positive and the yellow is the "city-light". The yellow should be the center wire of the 3-wire connector. Open the housing up and see which one connects to the back of the reflector, should be a brown wire between the harness and the reflector, and either blue or white between harness and bulb.

I believe this to be correct. You can always check with your ohm meter.
