Has anyone put aftermarket guages behind factory dash and benzel in a yj. I thought at one time a company made a bracket that screwed behind the benzel. PLease show me pics and tell me where i can get this or make it. thanks

my vote is to get rid of the factory dash altogether, and make your own. then you can put any gauges you want in there. do a search, plenty of people have made custom dashes, pretty inexpensively too.

It's not really that tough. You just have to remove the original speedo and tach gauges and auxillary gauge cluster and replace them with backing plates that have holes cut for the new gauges. I used plexiglass for this plate with the back side painted black.

I did it.
I takes a while to do. The tach and Speedo you just shove in the hole. The five 2 inch gauges takes some time. I located the center in each hole on my guage pod. Took the guage pod all apart then drilled some 2 inch holes in it with a hole saw. Becarefull the clear acrylic and white ABS plastic is brittle (ABS is actually durable but it is now very old). How ever the Acrylic is extremely brittle. Drill as slow a possible. ( I manufacture plastics for a living). Then I touched up the holes with a die grinder and a soft bit. Wired them up and you are good to go. It took all day but I had to make a speedo cable and I soddered all my connections. If I did it again I would have put the Volt meter last. Oh well It can be changed. :p

Nobody searches anyway.
