As we were driving out on Sunday I saw probably about 300-500 beer cans/drink containers alongside Icehouse. Most seemed to be on the East (incoming) side of the road and I speculated that maybe the Cleanup is now attracting spectators that just want to see people break their rigs in the Box.
For the life of me I can never understand what posseses somebody to finish their beer and throw the can out the window in a wilderness area. Is it that hard to crush the can and stuff it under your seat? How can this sport attract people with absolutely no respect for the nature that we enjoy?
Does Cleanup attract folks that just want to get drunk and spectate carnage? I saw a ton of garbage this AM around spider and the box before I left. I hope folks cleaned their campsites, otherwise you have a case of more garbage on the trail, not less.
