: bronco peak fathers day
billybob13 06-14-2010, 09:10 PM this sunday i want to do bronco peak and sidewinder with my pops. if you want to join the fun bring your dads or your kids and celebrate fathers day on the trail.:smokin:
here's the catch- we have plans with the rest of the family at 2:00pm, so we need to be heading out around noon - 1:00 at the latest. this means we wont be able to stay and assist those in need, so you're on your own and hopefully other people can help if needed. we will be getting there at 7:45 and hitting the trail starting at 3a connector at 8:00.
please be prepared, i'd like to cruise right through and that's hard to do with rigs that aren't properly set up...
see you there, -billy

hell yeah, cant wait to see that beast in action.:mr-t:
medium8080 06-16-2010, 09:57 AM I was trying to round up some people to do a Bronco Peak run on Sunday too.
I would be down to meet with you guys, but not sure if I can 'smoothly' run up Connector. I'm driving a Samurai on 31s, geared, and locked f/r.
I think I could make it, but I wouldn't want to slow down the group too much.

31's sounds like a real challenge for connector, but you're welcome to tag along. if you have someone else to bring along with bigger tires that could be in front of you to give you a tug here and there you should be fine. i had to drag a friend of mine down connector in his stock jeep open diffs on 31's. that was down connector though...

are my tires big enough???
billybob13 06-16-2010, 08:44 PM are my tires big enough???
nope. 47's are considered small these days. come back and play when you get some flotation ag tires.
roctaco 06-17-2010, 03:07 AM hey guys, where are these trails located, & what would you say the level of difficulty is? I'm looking to do some wheeling this weekend.
flatblack51 06-17-2010, 08:27 AM about 45 miles east of sandiego off the I8 exit buckman springs road turn right straight through the stop sign and about 5 miles or so on the right corral canyon OHV park follow that road all the way to the top of the mountain and that would put you at 4 corners sidewinder is easy but you need lockers front and rear bronco peak and connector going up it 35" tires and lockers and alittle suspension never hurts and a winch if you get stuck.
seize the carp 06-18-2010, 02:34 PM got the drive line... so i gona be there.
billybob13 06-18-2010, 06:39 PM right on. be there by 8:00.:mr-t:
seize the carp 06-18-2010, 07:05 PM me and a couple guys are going to start on sidewinder while you guys go up the connector. then depending on how good she does we will meet up with your group when we get through the trail.
calcat430d 06-19-2010, 04:32 PM I will be coming out to join in on the fun, bringing my daughter with me. See you in the A.M.

right on kevin. see you there.
Mex-lego 06-19-2010, 10:07 PM :smokin:I just put my transmission back into my junk, I'll get my rear cv shaft monday and start putting my baby back together. I will see you guys out there this summer.:smokin:
billybob13 06-20-2010, 02:24 PM hey you, the guys who paved the fuck out of connector with 5 truckloads of rock in every fucking hole- go fuck yourselves. if you are too big of a faggot pussy and cant do the fucking trail, stay the fuck away from it and go take a drive down the fucking road. it's no different than the way gate keeper looked after leveling it completely out with cobblestone pavers. seriously, stick to the pussy trails if you have to fuck up the good trails just to say you got through it.:mad3::mad3::shaking:
calcat430d 06-20-2010, 08:15 PM I agree, that really was a walk in the park today, completely different trail, just drove straight through it. hopefully a lot of that crap gets kicked out in the next couple of months.
85andstillrunnin 06-20-2010, 08:45 PM How do you really feel?
seize the carp 06-20-2010, 08:47 PM so next time we go we will have to see if my jeep will fit on the connector. but i think the bottom part (the very first part at the camp ground) i will have to go around because i am a little wider than those rocks but i think i should be goo for the rest of the trail.
billybob13 06-20-2010, 08:51 PM How do you really feel?
pretty good.
friggnxj 06-20-2010, 09:26 PM hey you, the guys who paved the fuck out of connector with 5 truckloads of rock in every fucking hole- go fuck yourselves. if you are too big of a faggot pussy and cant do the fucking trail, stay the fuck away from it and go take a drive down the fucking road. it's no different than the way gate keeper looked after leveling it completely out with cobblestone pavers. seriously, stick to the pussy trails if you have to fuck up the good trails just to say you got through it.:mad3::mad3::shaking:
Billy, i totally agree; the rock stacking has to be controlled. The conector was basically a paved highway; my stock dodge on 31's could have probably have made it through.
Don't take a hard trail and make it hard for stock vehicles, leave those trails for the more equiped vehicles; there are enough tails that are plenty challanging for those not running 35"+ tires.
All stacking rocks and "paving" the tail does is to the encourage larger, more equipped rigs to deviate off the beaten trail in search or harder, more challanging obsticals, which before all the rock stacking, was that trail was in the first place.
Also, If you stack rocks, why don't you guys remove those rocks after you finish that obstical? Shouldn't you leave the trail in the condition that you found it?!
miguelitojeep 06-20-2010, 09:34 PM Maybe we do another trail day and "rebuild" the tough spots.
anyone run the newer trails out there yet? Are they decent?
JaysinDesignz 06-20-2010, 09:50 PM I went down 911A for a bit & turned around.
But, if those guys who rolled Sat were the stackers I wouldn't put it past them from what I saw. :homer:
WANTED: Dead or Alive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Beige Grand Cherokee
roof rack
Grey high lift on passengers side of rack
Spare tire mounted to rack
they took out the drivers door & taco'd the top portion of the windshield frame.

I wasn't there to witness that, but let's not just not automatically assume it was them; the rock stacking / paving problem grows over time, if people were to undo the stacking that they put in place, we wouldn't be having this conversation.
A better idea would be to block off the "illegal" bypass at the bottom of the connector and force everyone to go through the gate keeper. Those who can make it can keep going, those who don't, go and play on sidewinder.
This is the same case for all major tails throughout california; as most tails have a "gatekeeper" to keep lesser equipped vehicles out. If this trend continues, soon all the hammer trails will be accessible to mall cruisers.

im in, just let me know when you guys want to do something like that.
Jeepman14wheel 06-20-2010, 11:45 PM That is very upsetting, they need to stop stacking rocks if they cannot make it up the trails or at least unstack them once complete. What we need to do is build the gate keeper to keep all the mall crawlers out ~ wait a minute that is me! :flipoff2:
I would be down for a rebuild but I cannot help till the end of the year ~ sorry guys job sucks sometimes!
billybob13 06-21-2010, 07:16 AM next sunday there will be a bigger group out there wheeling, cleaning up, trimming parts of the overgrown shrubbery and repositioning some out of place rocks. no, we will not be rebuilding the trail or making new obstacles, just putting it back to the way it was and the way it should be. i also noticed a new trail that someone recently bushwhacked out there. if you want to break a new trail, go to superstition or johnson valley. breaking new trails at corral canyon (and many other places) is a good way to get those trails shut down. please don't ruin it for the rest of us responsible wheelers. on a good note i didn't see hardly any trash there.:)

mikegyver1 06-21-2010, 10:12 AM Sorry to hear that Billy. :shaking: Hope you and your Dad still had a goodtime out there. :D Did anyone take pics?
Mad Dog 1 06-21-2010, 11:08 AM I ran BP solo a couple of years ago it was my 1st hard trail and I made it without stacking, I got my first body damage on that trip. It was a Toyota Nation trail run with about 20 rigs and I was the only one to do BP.At first I thought" what a bunch of WImps" but in retrospect I see it was a wise choice for the leader to take them all on sidewinder instead.I didnt even know what stacking was, I just figured that you had to drive the trail the way it was or get out the winch.
How about some PICS

next sunday like this weekend? or the one after? because i can't go this coming weekend but i could the next one.
zack norwood 06-23-2010, 08:20 PM It sucks that they messed with the connector. I ran it a few weeks ago and it was the hardest I have ever seen it, and the most fun. Was the trail still over grown? Looked like a jungle the last time.
