: #"/!!&!! Holley 2300
My 2300 Holley bites. Any extreme crawling makes it stutter and bog and die, at the worst moments.
I have done all the mods to it, extended vent tube, lower needle settings, press-reg...blah, blah, blah. Short of installing FI (no cash), what carb can I use to help this beeatch run on angle?
I searched, but I have a 304 2bbl, so the 4bbl fixes won't work and I do not want a gay 4bbl. to 2bbl. adapter.
Does anyone think a Weber 38 series 2bbl. will support a strong 304? Also, are Weber 2bbl's even worth a damn on inclines?
Thanks for the help.

Should have scrolled down...not search.
The motorcraft carb sounds good...still wondering about the Weber.
T1H5_TA3 10-21-2002, 02:52 PM webers suck offroad.
Curtis 10-21-2002, 03:16 PM Yes, Webers suck ass off-road because they are made for VW's or the bling, bling racers. Get a Motorcraft for off-road and you'll be fine.
Answers my question...no bling-bling for my hoss.
:D
If you run a carb run a Q Jet.Motorcraft that is junk.

Problem is Qjet takes an adapter whereas a Motorcraft can bolt in place ;)
Harvester of Sorrow 10-23-2002, 07:39 AM I run a 2300 Holley with the 50cc accel pump...all that I have ever had to do is tweak the floats and mix...runs everywhere.
Though I would like to try a Motorcraft 2 barrell when this one goes bye bye.
T1H5_TA3 10-23-2002, 08:21 AM yha, i would rather have my engine stay runing with a motercraft , than pick up 3-4 hp with a holley.... kinda sux being limited to a 2bbl carb but hey.. eng swap time will get here soon enough..
tsm1mt 10-23-2002, 09:06 AM *MY* 2300 seems to work well almost all of the time, with nothing special to it.
I have more problems with the bulkhead connector than the 2300.
The 4bbl Holley ran better, but leaked gas and was unreliable.. the 2300 just works.
SnowScoutII 10-24-2002, 12:15 PM oh man, My 2 barrel on my 72 w/304 would die out and choke up on the :rainbow: of inclines, take like 10 minutes or so to clean out and fire up again, I changed that by taking it to my hot rodding buddie who runs a 64 chevelle he installed some different needles into it i dont know exactly which I think a q jet (but not positive) and since then I can take it up almost anything with out hesitation, When it gets to a pucker factor angle i just pull the choke out a tiny bit to up the revs and it works fine!

You still use your bulkhead connector? I assume you mean the headlight connector? I don't think I need mine anymore, except for turn signals. My signals weren't working, at all four corners the other day. Figured I had a bad flashing unit, replaced it, still no go, hmmm, popped the hood, yep, the bulkead connector had fallen completely off. Rig ran just fine though.... ;)
The other bulkhead connector has a screw in it... I don't seem to have trouble with that one, but I bypassed it for the main power wire that runs through it also... My old one seemed to have melted...

Yep, it's the engine harness one that gives me grief.
I bypassed the DBC for the charging circuit while in Moab three years ago when it stopped charging for some unknown reason.. seemed like a good time to wire from the output of the alt right to the Ford solenoid.
The connector has been split in half by the PO and is an ugly mess. I had grand ideas to go with mil-spec thread-together connectors when I put the 345 in.. but I was too anxious to go wheelin', so I skipped that part. :D
