Title is salvage because it was hit in front. Had to go on the frame machine, got some new sheetmetal and steering parts.

A friend of mine is selling it and giving me dibs. He has owned it for 3 years and has had no problems. Been offroad 4 times with it. My plan is to drive it a couple of years as a DD and then hack it up (like my CJ :D )

Any ideas on value??? He said it would be "cheap".

usually a salvage title cuts low blue book value in half.

half might be a bit much, but at least 25% of book value. Depends on who did the repair and how well it was done. Dont forget it will need an inspection if it has not had one yet.

we paid $1000 for my brothers 99 tj with a salvave title. it is worth what somebody is willing to pay

buying things with salvage titles is a good way to get a good deal on something like that.

if you get a chance, flip thru the pages of Auto & Rv to get an idea of what wrecked and repaired vehicles go for (www.auto-rv.com).

hopefully, i'll be getting a 97 TJ with 4cyl, 5spd, no transfer case, and 160,000miles for $1000 in the near future...

I've clipped quite a few cars in my early years and we were getting 90% of book value. Some people care and some don't. It all depends on the person.

You would also be suprised to find out that the insurance companies still repair up to 75% of the value of a car if it has been in a collision.

There really isn't much difference between salvage and some of the clean title cars out there.

my brothers is a 6cyl with manual.

i asked him last night what he has into it now.

aprox 5k and 1year of tinkering to get it fixed up.

it is completly fixed now and looks as good or better that most 99 tj running around. every thing has been repaired. his 5k total cost includes a pro-comp ( i know it is embarrasing ) 4" lift and 33" mickey thompson baja claws on alcoa look alikes. new bikini top. so if you do it right you can end up with a great deal.
