I found these in my desk, pics from the first ARCA in Chokecherry 4 years ago, things have come a long way. Look at what we thought was a huge crowd watching the original Currie Jeep right before it rolled:

And check out this line of "highly modified" rock buggies! Looks like your standard trail rig, and where are all the people?!

Check out this rig on this "very difficult" obstacle:

Cool pics Brad. I have some home video of the '98 BFG/Warn Rock Crawling Championships. Cool to pop the tape in from time to time and see how far we have come in just 4 years. :D

ya , ya know That pic, with the "brownie" renegade and roggies, makes me wonder ....that renegade was, and still is a "RENTAL" jeep ...that means for 135 you can drive it...it used to get top 10...now i dunno...

but hey, I honestly bel.ive arca is the F1 of rockcrawl...the super crawl is luck...

we wll see next year

Brad,
Yeah I was there. Thanks for the memories. I've got some up close pics of Jeff Waggoner's (Currie) CJ-7 after the roll and some of a green CJ-8 from South Carolina that rolled (maybe this was Shuppe I can't remember) I'll see if I can find them and post them.

There were a lot of guys that were competing then that are now gone from the scene it seems.

The pics of memory lane are definately pegging the cool meter.

Moab Austin- did you watch the SC? Sure, there is an element of luck in every crawl event but the teams that placed well (In any event or series) did not pick a winning lotto ticket, they consistently completed obstacles with some pretty low scores where others could not complete them at all or show the same level of consistency across all the obstacles. Maybe you or your favorite team had bad luck?

Here's the complete brochure from that event, and btw it was 3 years ago, not 4.:D How many of the names do you guys recognize? Notice the standard was 35" tires and Dana 44s?!!!

That was a while back, Brad...

We had coverage on it, too...

...here's the photo galleries: http://www.4x4wire.com/news/arca99/gallery1.htm
Fun to see so many faces that have been in it from the beginning that are still placing high.

This still ranks high as a favorite picture: http://www.4x4wire.com/news/arca99/pat1.jpg

Remember when Jeff 'Rookie' Waggoner was just starting to work with the Currie Family:

I keep waiting for some newbie to cap on you for spelling ARCA wrong... :p
