My wife is getting the traveling bug and we are about to have a baby.
We are thinking of building a Sprinter based "expedition" vehicle for travel to various countries while she is on maternity leave.
We don't need much in the way of off road capabilities, other than the need to drive on gravel roads during moderately good weather.
We are looking for creature comforts... good sleeping arrangements, a fridge, heater, A/C, microwave, inverter, etc.
Any and all input into this will be appreciated.

I've looked at a couple of pre-fabbed Sprinter based RV's and they're pretty sweet. Are you looking to build for the fun of it? Otherwise, seek out a 4-5 year old used Mercedes or Sprinter based RV. The one I looked at had a slider because it was VERY narrow and tight inside. Rated to tow 5K lbs and still got 20+mpg (claimed, anyway).
Prebuilt Sprinter campers seem to be very expensive, considering what the chassis costs. That and I want it set up the way I want it. I'll probably build my own.
A Sprinter with a slide ? I wasn't aware that they built them that way. Do you have a link to one with a slide ?

Winnebago does the Sprinters with a slide-out room. This is similar to the one I looked at, but the same dealer.

It sho do. Ford center console, and what looks alot like the bottom corner of a ford steering wheel. Plus, four conventional doors.
