How much oil does an isuzu 12 bolt rear axle normally hold. I know, fill to the bottom of the fill hole, but I moved my fill hole to the top of the housing, so that would be WAY too much oil now. Anyone know an actual capacity in quarts?

I want to say it was 2 quarts... you know, and I just did it too.:homer: But seriously though, I believe it is 2 quarts.

That just doesn't seem like enough. My front D44 took 2, and it has seals on either side of the diff so you dont have to fill the tubes. All the Spider 9's take around 4. I've got about 3 in my 12bolt right now and it's nowhere close to my new higher fill hole.

Huh, I don't know what to say... I run the syncro 75-90w bottles GM sells (cause that is where I use to work and it was cheaper for me), and I only had 4-5 left and it looks like I only used 2 - 2 1/2? Like I said though, I refilled the diff a month ago when I put the Aussie in, and just can't be 100% sure.

The VX 12 bolt rear calls for 3.2 Qts. in the manual.

I just filled mine this morning and it took a little over 1/2 gallon. Don

Hmm, seems most are voting around 2 quarts, with the VX book saying 3.2. I guess the 3 that I poured in are probably enough then. Just seems like so little when you're used to a 9" rear that'll suck up 6 or more for a rear axle with seals out at the ends.

My manual says: 1.8 liters.
(It's the official 2" thick service manual)
