Not really, they have been clamping down the past few years.
The closest real wheeling would be Truckhaven or up in the high desert in Johnson Valley.

For some light duty stuff you could go up San Berdoo canyon rd. or Box canyon area out near Mecca.

Dead thread, but there are a few trails in pinyon and a couple really washed out trails just outside of coachella that are fun, not really technical or hard, but will make you appreciate the coachella valley a little bit.
