3.9 w/HEI, has anyone done this? Pros/Cons
Is it worth the effort or should I just save my pennies for a SBC?

I just cooked another coil on the way out from the Rubicon, fortunately it was about 1 mile from pavement, after doing the trail. Fortunately the the guys from BCB were arround to lend a hand and stayed up until 2am to get my junk home!

Dude,

IMO you should leave the Rover V8 ignition system alone and as STOCK as possible.

I have the Crane on the MF remember? It fritzed out on me several times and had to buy 2 new ECU's. That sucked.

Save your pennies!

I have a coil if you *really* need it!

I completely concur. Leave that stuff stock. It is just about as tweaked as it can get from the factory, and the lucas system does NOT like voltage or amperage fluxuations. PERIOD.

I am curious though, how many coils in what time frame have you "cooked"

About 3 months ago i was having some starting issues and in the process I checked the coil and discovered it was leaking oil, so I replaced it. I have now replace this 3mo old cooked coil with what appears to be the origional coil from my 1980 project truck.

New cap/rotor/secondary wires/ plugs will be added this weekend prevent further headaches.

On a side note, My stock RR on 34's did the Rubicon (loon-cadillac) just fine, don't let anyone say it can't be done with stock running gear. :flipoff2:

I ordered a Davis Unified Ignition when I attempted to convert my RR to a carb...I ordered the DUI for a 215 Buick. It wouldn't fit. Hit the right hand block....so I ordered the mallory. It went on fine.
