Hello,
My brother-in-law is going to give me his old dodge durango, and I have a couple question about how do transfer the title, and no one will pick up the damn phone at the CADMV.
1. Does CA require the title of the vehicle to be notarize? In NC both parties have to be in front of a notery public and both sign the title.
2. What fees are associated with transfering a title?
3. Has any one done this before?
Any help would be great, Thanks

You are transfering this from CA into NC? Why would you care what CA wants? All CA wants to see is the title tear-off from your brother-in-law to prove he sold the vehicle. Since you are transfering the vehicle into NC, you should probably contact the NC DMV to find out what THEY want.
CA does not require the signitures to be notarized, but if you are trying to transfer it to NC, the NC DMV may want the signitures notarized.

Since the budget has not been passed in CA. I don't think many of the DMV workers are coming to work for only $7.xx bucks an hour. Whatever federal minimum wage is. I was in there early last week and several of them were talking about not coming in to work when the fed wage goes into effect.

Looked all over the CA DMV site and was not clear about the notarized title, if he fills it out I fill out the rest that is all NC is going to want when I go to register the truck, and a bill of sale.
