: All-Pro's Latest Project "The Baja Taco"
Infernal Jeep 07-01-2010, 04:13 PM The Baja Taco is All-Pro's latest project build-up. Follow along as we take this run-of-the-mill 1998 Toyota Tacoma and turn it into a fully outfitted Expedition Vehicle! We're taking the best of All-Pro's existing product line, throwing in the highest quality accessories from top manufacturers, and even using this platform to R&D some brand new products that may find their way into the All-Pro lineup soon. When its complete, the Baja Taco will be fully outfitted for long-term cross-country expeditions, long-range camping, fishing or hunting trips into the back-country, and bring along the gear to make the experience comfortable and enjoyable.

usaf_taco 07-01-2010, 05:56 PM is there any droop left with the front lifted so high like that? i am assuming that it is the TC kit right? but the truck looks nice
generalee7 07-01-2010, 07:32 PM Damn, I love that rear bumper and those sliders. A bit too much for my blood though
Trucks lookin' good!
Looks like it'll be fun, which leaf springs are being used the Baja leafs or the regular lift leafs?
Speaking of the Baja leafs how much lift do those have? The All Pro site doesn't mention it.
RockTacoAU 07-02-2010, 06:21 AM is there any droop left with the front lifted so high like that? i am assuming that it is the TC kit right? but the truck looks nice
I was wondering the same thing. Part of me wants a desert race truck.......but there is no desert in Alabama :flipoff2:
sixstringsteve 07-02-2010, 07:08 AM Love the rear canopy frame, I hope that makes it into the product catalog soon.
Infernal Jeep 07-02-2010, 09:53 AM is there any droop left with the front lifted so high like that? i am assuming that it is the TC kit right? but the truck looks nice
Yes there is , the truck actually sits lower than that . In that picture it had just been brought back down from that lift , you can tell by how the front tires are sitting . It's got 13" of travel and yes , it is a TC kit .
Infernal Jeep 07-02-2010, 10:41 AM Love the rear canopy frame, I hope that makes it into the product catalog soon.
It sure is , in fact that's one of the next things on the list :smokin:

Those are 3" - 95-04 All-Pro Tacoma springs . In a few weeks we will be swapping them out for a set of All-Pro's new "Expedition" Tacoma springs which will allow a little more weight to be carried for camping gear . Those will be available in about 3 weeks :smokin:
Booger Weldz 07-02-2010, 02:37 PM i thought i was the only one on the planet running beadlocked bfg ALL TERAINS :D hard to wheel in the spring(muddy traction isnt there) but she sure goes down the road smooth...

And, of course, more pics!!!:D
Infernal Jeep 07-22-2010, 12:09 PM The truck ran great , the owner was happy with the overall performance of the truck . It could use a little more power from the 4 cyl motor but as far as it's 4 wheeling capabilities and road manners go , the truck performed flawlessly :smokin: .
Infernal Jeep 07-22-2010, 12:24 PM And, of course, more pics!!!:D
I have a couple but I'm having a hard time resizing them :( . I will keep trying , if not we will have some new action pics after the Takeover in 2 weeks :smokin:

Camok5 08-26-2010, 10:42 AM Would still like to see the bed rack lower so that the RTT isnt catching the wind so much but understand you would loose the ability to stack the bins under it then. Love the front bumper and how it protects the fiberglass front fenders.
I'm still trying to figure a way to maximize bedspace with a doublecab, spare tire, RTT, camping gear, cooler or fridge, and not go above the bed with the RTT. My supercharged 3.4 already hurts the mpg's dont want to loose anymore.
Stealth 4x4 08-26-2010, 02:37 PM The new paint looks great! And this truck performed flawlessly on the John Bull run, so it crawls great too. Nice work.

Booger Weldz 08-27-2010, 11:56 AM very nice, all that thing needs is a doubler(and lockers?) and it could run 75% of the trails or more
is a SAS still cheaper than a decent long arm ifs kit thats trail worthy? (im asking for my son)

when i looked into long travel ifs it was around ~5k complete and its bolt on. if i was doing it again, thats the route i would take.
pepe - that thing needs manual locking hubs.

dang, F that...i can do a homebuilt coilover linked SAS for possibly half that with a used chromo 44...
the bumpy fast capabilites of the ifs would be fun though...that said, ive got some more appropriate valve stacks in my front FOAs and its really MUCH improved...need to figure out the rear and have them sent off

just checked, $4500 from kartec with coilovers - 1100 of that is coilovers. includes modified t100 axles to keep the 4wd.
add up what it cost to build a 4-link in materials and i bet its within 1k. then factor in your time and down time. i hate building stuff, i want to have fun. the bolt on side of things is the main reason why id do it. seems like a lot because its one lump sum.

It has ARB's front and rear as well as a Taco Box from Marlin, but the best thing about the Baja Taco is the 30000 btu portable bbq that hangs on the tailgate. It cooks a 4" thick jalapena stuffed tri tip roast in 40 minutes at 9000' elevation! haha
